If not PV'd then why not?

If PV'd but giving excuses to meeting but happy to keep chatting, then why?

If happy to PV, keep chatting but still no meet, why?

Everything in all of this, has questions and answers. Some you won't & don't need to worry about, but some you certainly do and should.

So, the next single person or couple you chat with; ask them why no PV and if so, why no meet (even for coffee) and from there, break it down...

Bet you're more surprised than you may realise. :D

For some, getting a PV is like getting blood out of a stone. I wonder why.
Can’t enforce it as we saw and felt the damage it caused but you can spot the dodgy ones from a mile away.

I joined the site when you had to PV to be a member, it actually gave me a sense of comfort, almost like a rite of passage, knowing that we all had to do it!

I think they should get pv'd say after 1 or 2 weeks but only able to see blured/pixalated pics till they do also limit everything else ie no messaging or seeing/replying to certain main topic posts as it might encourage them to want to do it plus it might stop pic collectors.

Well, there was a step in place if you recall - where accounts would be locked for not PV’ing. We stopped that due to no longer enforcing it. But I agree there should possibly be an additional step but what, is the question. If at all of course.

I think we all know why some can't get PV'd but to enforce PV is not, from experience the way to go. I think some genuine people, if they see the site enforces this, then they may go elsewhere believing that a non PV site allows them more freedom.
The fact is we just have to make our own decision, do we interact with members who are not PV'd or do we simply remain polite, accept that they are on the site but keep any interaction to the minimum. We (Therlegs) will happily chat to anyone but we would not arrange to meet anyone who is not PV'd. Why, because we believe any genuine member who is serious about meeting others would make the effort to show they are genuine by getting themselves PV'd.

Yep, agreed. I can understand the reasons against having it as an obligation, but yeah… and no, of course it’s not a guaranteed safety measure. It just felt more comfortable.

Though I understand the reticence for people to put public face pics up we shouldn’t lose sight of the fact that PV’s are only seen by admin who would never reveal them so I still don’t get why folk avoid it , it costs nothing ! And ensures security for us all !

This is completely spot on.

It's always wise to treat those you talk to with a small amount of caution from the start. In my old days of internet quizzing and chatting I encountered a few who started out as one thing but turned out to be very different.

Must admit we are cautious of none PV members. At the end of the day nearly everyone has the means to take a pic, its takes seconds, and if you're using a phone to access the site, why can't you do it then? Simples! S x

Obviously there are reasons as to why the PV system was dropped but like many others we joined when pv'ing was obligatory as was the wee picture and they did go someway to giving a sense of comfort, in my opinion it served to keep the time wasters and pic collectors at bay, and whilst we wouldn't ignore non pv'd accounts we would both be wary of arranging anything and would hope that in time those proper genuine accounts will pv, but in the end you can only listen to your gut regardless of a pv or any verifications as they are only ever a guide. Us too, one of the other things we like about this site is the way single guys are treated so much better than on some other sites. I honestly think the two are connected. More honesty and better behaviour.
That ethos, has been instilled from day 1 and thankfully remains. Yes there’s the odd thing now and again but it’s the way it is for a reason. Welcoming, friendly, considerate. :)

You wouldn’t believe some of the excuses we’ve heard. One account that is now banned said he doesn’t have any privacy due to living with his parents yet he wanted to video call me!
One was no pen in the house
I think the most common is. The wife is always at work  24/7

You couldn’t make it up
Ask yourselves though, would you risking meeting a stranger with no PV or meet verifications?
Especially somewhere discreet.
Always ask yourself why is it such an issue to do a selfie and if it is then they are hiding something. (y)

Thing is nearly everyone has access to a camera of some sorts, and in all honesty I just don’t see why it’s an issue. We would be cautious about people who haven’t PV’d, and certainly wouldn’t meet them. What I can’t get my head round is if you can upload a pic on here, why can’t you send a pic in to get PV’d???? This is a digital age we ain’t dinosaurs! S x

And 90% of non PV members always make time to add media of sorts o_O
