    What Does BDSM Mean

BDSM which stands for Bondage Discipline Sadism Masochism (although the DS can also mean
Dominance and Submission in certain circles ), so what does that actually mean ?

There are many things that are associated with BDSM, although as the name suggest
the Bondage part is quite a significant item. This can be done with something as
simple as a mans tie, but more adept practitioners used specialist imported hemp and coconut
rope to tie their partners in, the whole area of rope work is defined as 'rigging' there
are even specialist classes you can go to in order to learn the different knots and
techniques involved in this very intricate art form.

The Discipline aspect usually, but not always involves a form of Corporal Punishment, this
is carried out using a variety of implements, such as cane's, floggers, paddles or almost
any item that can be used to hit someone with. For some men this can be tied in to the
fantasy of a strict school mistress punishing them. Dominance can relate to a physical or
a mental supremacy over a partner, something as simple as being ordered to do a certain
task will give them a feeling of intense pleasure.

Sadism is one of those words associated with acts of extreme violence, torture and brutality,
the use of this term in relation to BDSM though is somewhat misleading as people who take
part in this particular area are usually very experienced in knowing just what their
masochistic partners want. A partners tollerances are a key point, this comes from knowing the person
you are playing with, and what they want to get out of a play session.

Submissives are the people who are on the receiving end of most of the attention, they tend to
be the ones who enjoy being punished, and generally disciplined. A submissive enjoys conforming
to the will of others, and generally meekly obeying what he/she is told to do.
