We always have dinner at home with family, our eldest will be here for a couple of weeks so its great to have all of us together once a year, we have a huge turkey and goose, all the trimmings, we usually start drinking the champagne by 9am and finish about midnight, best day of the year
I might have to rethink that, perhaps try a sample. My chef has 4 of them he needs to pluck this weekend
I do the Christmas cooking for my family this year it will be more or less the same as every year Starter Smoked salmon and home made bread or, A selection of cheeses and home made bread Main Roast Turkey or, Roast Duck Braised red and savoy cabbage (the green and red is so Christmasy) Brussels sprouts Roast potatoes Boiled new potatoes Stuffing two types Home made sausage and fresh vegetable stuffing/meat loaf Roast carrots Roast parsnips Home made gravy (Christmas is the time for bisto) Piggies in blankets Pudding Christmas pudding and custard or, Trifle And all munched down with plenty of mulled apple juice.
That's just the dinner thiers also glazed ham, sausage rolls, stolen, Christmas cake, chocolate and orange mini cakes, cheese and onion rolls, mince pies, ham tarts, ginger bread, and cinnamon swirls all in ofter order for nibbling as well. Yeah I'm starting to see why I am always the families cook I go a bit mental over broad
We are at my parents this year. Last yr we were at our house and my brother was in Portugal. So this year we will all be together. Looking forward to it xx
Opps seems I missed out a not, Christmas is not the time for bisto. I'll just go and spank myself for getting it wrong
This year ... will be out for dinner with Dad , brother and sister in law and nephews .... first year without mum .. oh not having turkey ... will be a juicy steak and ribs for me ... Not great for the staff working Christmas Day but saves all that washing up !
The usual madness here - us, kids, grandkids, mother-in-law, turkey, beef, roast potatoes, veggies, pudding (with brandy butter, of course), presents, booze, snoozing and, yes, real gravy
