yet another excuse for people to moan about alternative lifestyles.
Yes, a quick look at the National Center on Sexual Exploitation's website confirms that. This is a bunch of right-wing, religious zealots trying to find danger and evil wherever they can. It is the political equivalent of Maude in The Simpsons shouting "Won't somebody think of the children?" at every opportunity. One part of their site lists a 'Dirty Dozen' of organisations that "contribute to sexual exploitation"... Amnesty International and the American Libraries Association are on the list. 'Nuff said.

Exactly... Haven't got too long to elaborate atm, but fully agreed. Not just right wing though, lefties are out in storm too about it, it seems.

Yes, agreed, all ideologies have their loony wings, I was just talking about this particular group of morons.
Thing is, I don't want to get into a position where I'm defending that particular film, per se - I think the 50 Shades crap is pathetic and crass (Secretary is a much better film, if you like that sort of thing). In fact, it's films like this that play into the hands of these people by sanitising and dumbing-down the subject matter. The point is, any objections to the film should be on an artistic, not political or moral, basis.

Whether 50 shades portrays abuse or not is possiably debatable, that doesn't mean it's bad, not sexy or should be banned or restricted in any way since films and books are just make believe.

Right I'm going to leave it there before I go in to a rant about how as a country we need much more and better relationship understanding and education for all ages.

Each to their opinion but if thats what they believe should we not watch and pretend things like this never happen. If they believe its abuse they surely this is a good way to bring it to peoples attention so that they can make their own mind up.

Yes, I think it could be useful to have a discussion around the film (is it abuse? Is it a healthy lifestyle choice? What are the things that separate BDSM from domestic abuse? etc.), but banning any form of art is a step away from burning books IMO.

This would be great in the area I just mentioned to you elsewhere. ;)

It is now being classed as abuse.

Fifty Shades Darker is Abuse

I think it's a joke to portray this attitude and yet another excuse for people to moan about alternative lifestyles.

Here they go with their complete lack of understanding. Sure abuse occurs in the bdsm world, after all it involves humans, those same humans who abuse each other behind closed doors in plenty of other places.
A lot of people live in perfectly vanilla, extremely abusive relationships all over the world. Bdsm just gives the moral police something to point at.
The bit I love is.... Yes I flog my wife, I cane my wife on occasion too, restrain her with rope and tease her until she begs for release. Every single time she is perfectly willing and happy to submit herself to all of those things. She is perfectly happy and free to choose within the bounds of our agreement, at all times she has choice. She couldn't be in a more supporting, loving relationship and neither of us are mentally unstable or emotionally broken. I wonder how many of the moral police can say the same. I bet there are those that can't. Just like every other walk of life.
Don't judge others with your own insecurities...

All I'll say is the book is way better than the film. I find X Factor to be more abusive - to the viewers. :)
