In France there are still lots of these (Quincaillerie - my favourite French word)A traditional local ironmongers. 'Nuff said. I miss them, and the stuff we used to be able to get at them.. I think they'd still make a lot of money if done correctly and a traditional one was set up.
Oils, paraffin, Tilley Lamps and the smell of leather too, as well as rope, chains, anchor points, buckles, fastners and the such

Personally id bring back a good old fashioned sweet shop selling sticky boiled sweets by the 1/4 (what ever measurement that was) Some shaky old lady tipping them into her metal scales and pouring them into a paper bag along with a couple of hairs and a bit of dust

Pinapple cubes were amazing but the sharp corners had a tendancy to rip the top of my mouth to shreds
It's an old sweet mixture literally named after Swansea, called Swansea Mix. Had mint, fruit, those chest remedy sweets (linctus? is it? Brain is a bit tired..) and stuff like that.
I've just checked and still available..

But I want a pony and trap and wash in a Belfast sink..
Just found an old Belfast and Bath taps with a shower mixer which we have installed in the garden.. Hot and cold water.. Great for washing my paint brushes and the dogs..
