Not really one for marking personal anniversaries. Hell, I rarely even make A Thing of my birthday any more, having been born, as the comedian Emo Phillips memorably describes it, “at a more comfortable distance from the apocalypse”.

But two popped up on my calendar today, both of which had long lasting effects:

1/ Ten years ago today, I got my first iPhone. And I’ve stuck with iPhones ever since. Looking back, wow, was it heavy and slow and although at the time it was sleek and new, boy does it seem clunky now.

2/ Three years ago today, after ten years apart, my ex-wife and I were divorced. Feels odd, but not as odd as I think it should feel, you know? We were together for a bit over 13 years, so I’m coming up on when we’ll have been apart longer than we were together. Now that’ll be weird.

Anniversaries are important (y)
Well, I dunno - other than The Big Ones, never really thought so.

I mean, in five days, it’s the 49th anniversary of the moon landing. NEXT year, I’ll go, wow... 50 years. This year? Meh.

Anniversaries are opportunities to remember but the date itself is not more than a co-incidence.

What you're talking about here is noticing the passage of time, maybe?
