I'll be honest.... I cannot stand it. Sorry to say.So black Friday is upon us do you go and grab a deal either in stores or online or do you avoid at all costs. I avoid it because a lot of it is rubbish anyway and a lot of stock is bought in especially and not a good deal at all.

For me, Black Friday means the last working Friday before Christmas, where staff parties are held, people go out on the town and party all night. All the services, big offices and so forth - have their annual Christmas bash.
This new trend of shopping and deals etc is not (IMHO) what Black Friday is about.
In addition to this, I see it as a serious way of exploiting our awful way of being a consumer society and consumerism en-masse.

Black Friday/ Cyber monday....both right up there on my 'i hate....' list. I got fed up of hearing about it last week. It doesnt even last for just one day. Its 'Black Friday 19th till 28th November' at some places.

Yeah since when did we become so damned greedy on shit we don't really need?I couldn't agree with you more there everything is so commercialised now with buy this now thing, and people fighting over reductions is ludicrous

Yeah gets a bit much.
Some of it admittedly is handy for me, especially working in I.T but it does get major monotonous at times. x

What we need is to talk more to and with each other. Mingle with the people around us, take in the views and surroundings we see... Not spend £350 for a 72" flat screen shitty branded TV which no one has heard of, with a built in Blue-Ray player which again no one has heard of, just because it's on sale!
It's madness. xx
Good thread both I'd rather shop on line shopping okayish for some things but to me its another way of making us think we are getting top notch purchases at a bargain and simply your not simpleSo black Friday is upon us do you go and grab a deal either in stores or online or do you avoid at all costs. Is it just another “Americanism” ?
Not sure how long it’s been going now but when it first occurred a lot of websites crashed due to the traffic .... ? I may have imagined that .... so as with all things it gets stretched out to maximise profits....
I usually buy stuff when I want it not wait for the sales which generally follow the sales after the sales that were before the sales ....
there seem to be never ending sales in this country .... and it’s not always the bargain you think it is .... so maybe best wait for the next sales ...
It is.. 100%Oh dearI think our first black Friday did crash online, and it is something that has come from America maybe our American friends can clarify this.
