Maybe make people verify they want to block someone as it stands one click is all it takes which is easily done by mistake or at least i just managed to by mistake

I am against blocking for a whim this is a grown up site not kids play ground. If some one has a genuine grievance. the rulers in charge should investigate and if required block offenders. We are all suppose to be grown up !

I can see why people would need to block on other sites but I have always maintained there is no real need here with the moderation we have in place.

I mean you have a age barrier so that controls what sector peeps you are looking for.

Yes it is moderated, but can you moderate liars and members with obnoxious and vile attitudes that another member find disgusting?

This isn't the role of a moderator hun.
I agree, but you said that because how this site is moderated that blocking isn't needed. And as you said you can't moderate the points I've mentioned, which I've experienced, then blocking is indeed needed.

If someone displays this type of behaviour towards another member - specifically in public threads, posts or messages then there is a report function which we can then act on.
What you're discussing above, is what most people would class as 'a clash of personalities'. For example, some people may and may well do find you, obnoxious with a rude attitude. Do we then need to moderate you? Or The Bibas for example..
If it's been done directly to yourself (vile, obnoxious and disgusting) then it needs reporting so we can deal with it, but if you're meaning how someone behaves on here, then I am yet to see someone behave like that on here, who has not already been dealt with by us.
I think you're perhaps looking for something that is not there, or looking too far into something.

Good moderation can be hard or can be kind - but it must be fair.
Sometimes it is hard but its always fair ,we as moderators also moderate each others posts, threads and profiles ,we are all human and do make mistakes ,and ive not found anyone as yet I'd block on here ,even before I became a moderator

I've never blocked anyone, ever. Period. For me it represents the ultimate failure of imagination, a failure of people to communicate with each other in this medium. So you can just pull the plug and pull up the drawer bridge, safe inside your own personal echo chamber, free from anything that might contradict or upset you.

But the internet makes (or allows? I'm still not sure...) people behave in ways so ridiculous that we would never countenance in real life.

*shakes head sadly*

I've copied the thread and posts, into it's own discussion about why people block and so forth.
@Yorkshirecpl your first post will remain in this one else the thread would be deleted entirely. The original thread in suggestions and help, I will clean up and reply to.
Thanks all x
