as some of you may have noticed I am a wee bit to the left.
this being the rise of the far right in Europe is a worry to me. So may Question today is could Communism ever work?
Greed is the main failure of Communism as far as I can see. the general idea of a job for every man with equal pay works for me but when you get power hungry family s and governments involved it all goes to shit.
so how about Communism on a smaller scale? some may say a Utopian community every man working without personal money but helping there follow neighbor and being helped in return. there is one that has been running in Scotland since the 70's and still hold there ideals to this day.
your thoughts please returned to your local lefty Max.xx

No. Communism simply ended up as State Capitalism - there were just not enough checks and balances inherent in its system, allowing too few people to grab too much power. One of its greatest failings was the inability to see the larger picture and to make compromises on an international scale - this led to the isolation that, in turn, led to all sorts of problems; mass hunger, state paranoia, an all-or-nothing foreign policy and an absolutely horrific and brutal attitude to its own people.

but could we have learned form our earlier mistakes? could a more controlled form of Communism work? with a tighter control on the power even smaller community based projects lead by a larger governing body?
i know we will always have to have money to deal in this world we live in but i feel trade in the community would help a lot of people. I agree full Communism could never because there is always a greedy fucker out there but i also believe there there are alto of good things about it that have been used in times of war such as grow for Britain which have in times of prosperity have fell by the wayside but need to come back for the good of community's.

It hasn't worked yet, nor is it likely to as it is contrary to human nature, and always degenerates into dictatorship. In fact Communist dictators have been responsible for more human deaths than any other cause in history; Mao was the biggest butcher ever, with Stalin second (Hitler was third, interestingly he was a socialist too, albeit of the national variety). The various Kim il Things, Pol Pot and Mugabe are on the list too.

Stalin said "One human death is a tragedy, a million deaths is a statistic" which just about sums up the Communist attitude.

It will never work in a democratic system just as pure uncontrolled liberal capitalism won't, and as the saying goes "democracy is the least worse form of governance man kind has ever tried"

Not really talking about the views of communists dictators. That is something that nobody want, mad power hungry arse holes are in no ones interest.
My point is more about taking the better point of communism and applying then to a modern society.

To be totally fair, its hard to build a proper goverment with the right people working in it when you have the rest of the world trying to interfere ggives a better chance for the dickheads to come uptop when you have people from the outside insighting unrest.

but as i said before it wont really work because of greed the grass is always greener on the other side so people will always be unhappy and want more.
