Language And Words

I wouldn't say that it particularly turns me on or off, either way. It's usually what people are saying, rather than how they say it, that interests me.

However, I do think it's a shame, considering that we use such a versatile and descriptive language, that it is often reduced to a series of unrelated letters and numbers in 'text speak' (the very phrase annoys me - all writing is feckin text speak). On the flip side, I am a big advocate of an evolving language - I have no desire to be speaking Chaucerian or Shakespearian English - and the fact that people now actually say the word 'LOL' (for example) is a positive development, as far as I'm concerned. Smilies/emojis can be another bone of contention, but they are simply there to aid meaning and context, especially in the cold light of a computer screen.

Now, poor punctuation - that's a different matter. It pisses me off when I have to read a post three or four times before I can understand what on earth the poster is trying to say, when the addition of a simple comma could make all the difference

Now text speak, I cannot stand. I have a very big dislike to it. I seriously cannot stand it. It also makes my job harder as I have to slow down and analyse each word (lol?) so I can make sense of it, thus slowing me down!

Agreed and likewise with punctuation too. As I just posted above, it makes my/our job harder as we have to slow down and analyse what we're reading.
With regards to smilies, I despise it when they're used in place of a sentence of sorts. Even though I often do it myself. My point is, say something, anything to the person you're replying to or speaking with. Don't use them as a way to speak in place of English.
Being online, smilies can help express a post so it isn't blunt or seemingly offensive.

Oh shut up you fool.

Oh shut up you fool

Vastly different.

Big difference in my experience. People with dyslexia are often far from thick.

@Kwaka_Rider to answer, the lovely @Sammy did say "talks". But fair point, sexy literature can be far more sensual than graphic profanity.

The s was an error
But yes when I was thinking about the post originally - I was thinking about how we Speak .........the words we use both in an Intimate and non Intimate way

What's turns people on n what turns people off

But fab discussions so far

Yes... in truth I'm with it on this thread. There is a huge improvement between "I gave her one" to "I slid slowly into her quivering body and she exploded with sexual desire".....

There are about 2 short cut words i cannot bare and they grate on me something terrible. Why do people use gonna, wanna, why can you not type going to and want to. Aside from that i am tolerant but to a point as i think using correct words shows more intelligence although i wont have a hissy fit over the odd short cut as i do it on odd occasions myself. Plus i cannot spell for toffee If a certain softly spoken Scottish accent was whispered in my ear or a well spoken English one i would go to jelly
