You off to a club? There's so many swinging club NYE events.. are you going to one?
If not then perhaps you're having some non-vanilla friends around?
Or, just maybe it's 'nilla friends and family?
What are your plans?

Ours usually is a quiet-ish evening with a buffet all done, a few drinks... and then about 10pm it all seems to get very loud, loads of drinks flying in and very much a buzzing place.. Don't know how of course.

What about you? x

We're off to a mad friend's house, with other mad friends. It is a 'made-up superhero' theme and I will be dressed as 'Unicorn Boy' and Lis will be 'Tit Girl'. We will be forced (yeah, right) to drink bizarre spirits from strange lands and at some point, no doubt, the hostess will try to insert something up my arse (she usually does).

No longer with us

What are your plans?

No plans, as usual a few weeks before NYE. I usually leave it until just before. Past few years, sometimes that’s meant unexpected delights at the last minute, sometimes it’s been something popping up a week or so before.

And sometimes... nothing. Last year, spent NYE on me tod. Quiet night, but by the time NYE rolled around, was quite ok with the idea.

For the 6th year it will be the wonderful NYE party at The Vanilla Alternative for me. A once a year opportunity to dig out the dress suit and join around 200 others all dressed in their finest (well until midnight anyway!). Owners Scott and Jules provide a delicious buffet, all laid out on the huge banqueting table in The Tempsford Room. The bar closes temporarily at 11.45 to allow visitors and staff to gather in the bar/snug area, ready to celebrate the new year at midnight. For some reason beyond that, the clothes seem to find their way into lockers allowing guests to take a dip in the hot tub or party on the dancefloor. Others do what most visitors to swinging clubs do, enjoying themselves until the party draws to a close at 3am.

Anyone wishing to join us can still get tickets (see events page). Early bird prices are available until the 23rd. After that and for tickets bought on the door, prices revert to their normal price.

We don't really do anything for New Years, nobody wants to babysit. We usually lock away our electronic devices, turn off the TV, play some board games, crack open some drinks, get Merry and later some New Year under duvet fumbling

Obviously we know what happens at any clubs this time of year but what about you Sexy Peeps. This year we try and make the most of it after a sad year but as ever our children will make it the best. It’s great to have them home at this time of year. X

I have to say that the best NYE's I've ever had were when working in bars and clubs - not only do you not have to pay, but the drinks are free and there's usually a cab thrown in at the end of the evening.

They where my faves too, working the bar at various pubs. I tended to end up not needing a cab home tho, woke up in some strange and sometimes very nice places

When my son was first born I used to work at a full time job during the day and work in a working mens 4 nights a week, so I could afford to live, pay child support and buy him nice xmas presnts.
I was quite pretty in my youth (not handsome but pretty ) and the old dears used to always buy me drinks. Xmas 2004 when I worked behind that bar is a bit of a haze. I think I was more plastered than the clientele .

I recall one NYE I worked; I was head chef in this fancy Spanish bistro and the tickets were £75 PP. Included in that was complimentary drinks, fillet steak, swordfish, starters.. deserts and so on.
The tips we were all getting were huge, it was a proper black tie evening for the gents and with ladies in gowns. Brilliant night. I wrapped up at 12:30am and then the entire place had a lock-in until about 4am+
Needless to say I got rather shit faced and had to work NYD as we had then a carvery luncheon to serve..(I say carvery but it was served by myself and my staff) I never lived it down that day how I got up to all sorts of naughty stuff with staff and customers too (much to my embarrassment) after having a generous helping of vodka, mixed with Rioja and fine brandy. Still, the customers said I was the "friendliest" chef they'd ever come across...

I have to say we spend NYE together at home as we generally have our young lad.
Plenty of wine and not all the time we make 12 o'clock!
