- I'm not sure I like the idea of the tides of fate controlling my life and making the decisions I make ultimately meaningless as my fate or destiny is preordained
I'll throw my tuppence worth in and say that I am a firm believer in serendipity. Sometimes you can make a choice for unfathomable reasons and it then turns out to be the best decision.
Fate/destiny/serendipity...call it what you will. If two people are meant to find each other in this busy crowded world, then they will cross paths at some point in time. Its then up to them to notice each other.
I've just experienced something uncanny....
Just checked a members' profile. Haven't been on for some time (months) - 20 minutes later they came online!
Could not agree more. It's an amazing world we live in, but we (mostly) are zombies smothered by consumerism and narcissism laced with selfishness.totally agree @Admin - if we stop and look round once in a while, instead of rushing through life, we'll realise how amazing the way the world works

Just my tuppence worth...
Too much. It's rather worrying too. The selfishness and spite that is now the norm, didn't exist 20+ years ago.so much selfishness

It's a worrying sign of the change of pace of society. fate and destiny play a hand, certainly, but greed and culture loss help this.
The days of being kind and caring to another human being seem to be long gone (not for some of us) - and the days of 'my myself and I' are more prominent now than ever.
Even down to helping the old dear a few doors down, with his/her shopping.
Long gone... And that can't even be placed to - ye olde git or anything, it's fact.
A very good friend and were talking about this exact subject the other night. We concluded that souls are recycled. If we're lucky, we meet our matched soul or soulmate every time.
The unhappy people are the ones who have missed or not yet found their missing 'half'.
Agreed and this is the true fate and destiny..A very good friend and were talking about this exact subject the other night. We concluded that souls are recycled. If we're lucky, we meet our matched soul or soulmate every time.

Does this still standNo I don't. The things that have happened in my life were the result of the decisions I made or actions I took. I have a fairly logical approach to life, kind of "If-Then-Do"
That may seem to be a cold, short reply but I enjoy my life, I have a sense of humour (warped some may say), I simply don't believe if fate/destiny.
Hi guys, I'd be interested to know the views of this site's lovely members - so who believes in fate/destiny?
I know a lot of people are scared by the fact that what happens in their life, or what will happen, is already pre-determined. The feeling that they are not control of where their life goes, or that any decision they make was already pre-defined.
I for one am a big believer, and it has actually help me rationalise a number of difficult/painful experiences in my life, and whilst I cant explain why certain things have happened, I take solace in the fact that it was 'meant to be', and that in the longer term, it was in my best interest.
In a way, I think it has its similarities to religion (without the having to believe in one being bit) and helps us mere mortals make sense of things, which I think is very important for a peaceful mind
It still doesnt explain why i havent won the lottery but hey ho
So who is a believer?
Does this still stand
