Yes I read something about this a few weeks ago. It makes sense I guess as any nicks or cuts can leave the body open to infection.

This is why I do sugaring. Soooo much gentler on the skin than normal/hot wax and shaving. I seriously recommend trying it if you get the chance.

I can see why. I currently have an ingrown hair from 5 weeks ago and it's turned into a boil that keeps weeping. Due to being diabetic, it seems that anything below the waist, takes weeks or months to heal, it's a nightmare.
I don't often fully shave with a razor, I tend to just trim, but the one time I do use a razor, I get bloody ingrowing hairs
Luckily, I'm not sexually active, because if I was, I wouldn't play until my boil has healed, as I'm super paranoid of ever catching a STD. I used to always be at the GUM clinic when I was an active swinger.

Oh god I used to get ingrown hairs all the fucking time when I shaved. Barely ever have any now though, knock on wood.

I nearly posted a thread about it last night, but my meds kicked in and made me drowsy.
It happens every time. Whether it's a new blade or not.
The sheer amount of time the boils take to heel, is horrendous and they look awful. Would hate someone to think I have syphilis or something!

This won't stop me shaving, but I wonder if the reason behind this in fact due to shaved people being more sexually active and with more sexual partners than unshaven people, as many STI's are spread mainly by bodily fluids (it's the reason condoms are such good protection) I believe.

Yes this was one of the findings however even those who didnt have a lot of sexual encounters still showed an increase in STI' s. The good thing about shaving is you are less likely to have nits
