Watching Mega Brothel ATM on C4.

Question quite simply, should this country (United Kingdom) follow suit like Europe and allow brothels, legally..
Is it time to allow legal prostitution. The oldest profession in the world....

It should be legalised. Better control and safer environment for the workers. I personally find it an immoral and risky profession but my thoughts aside the health and well-being of the prostitutes should be considered. :)

Yes, would definitely agree with that.
Legalised equals better control, safety for the girls..
Regardless of personal beliefs. :)

Ditto.
Legalising brothels would definitely give support to the employees, make the profession safer, give them some kind of protection. I don't agree with protitution, but I can understand why people turn to it to make a living.

I have no problem with legalised bothels, rules can be passed to require use of condom, panic alarms for the safe, drug and alcohol testing, and even id cheeks. All of which should make everything cleaner and safer for those involved

to be honest in Edinburgh it pretty much is, there are a lot of saunas and not just tucked away on seedy back streets. the biggest one is on Lothian road one of the busiest streets in Edinburgh on a Saturday night. there used to be a huge prostitution problem in Leith (Edinburgh dock area). but since turning a blind eye to the saunas the girls are safer in a controlled clean environment.

In my very younger days I worked in a brothel as a CHILD MINDER I might add in scotland , very well maintained, ladies health checked every other week, a separated creche for those with young children , bouncers on hand every day , strict rules applied made for a very safe environment , so yes legalisation would be a safe way forward ,

The only thing that does make us think about this, is would it be easier for exploitation of the girls?
As we saw last night...
I think that's one of the main drawbacks.

You could argue they are already exploited but surely a legal brothel run correctly with proper checks in place has to be a better and safer environment for both the girls and their clients.

Of course, but as I said - "would it be easier for exploitation" and after watching this programme, it could very well be the case.
But as you say, with the proper checks in place and regular inspections - it theoretically should be a safer environment for all involved.
I do think that it's high time the UK government caught up with some more modern laws regarding the sex industry.

If legal and properly run then it should make explotation more difficult and put a lot of the back street brothels, where explotation appears to be the norm, out of business.

Hmm legalised brothels! the ladies paying tax an NI on their wages. Would the Chancelor of the exchequer be up in court for living of imoral eranings?
