First off lets get it clear that British Police would and have done such things but tend to do it away from public view. I think the cops actions to jump on him in the way he did right at the start was wrong but then the lad did resist being arrested (not so sure about the punching and hitting with the batton) so In some parts the cop was right to try and get the cuffs on. as for the crowd I would guess the cop feared for his own safety so he drew his gun. While ever the lad had his hands free the cop was in great danger so over reacted.

I have nothing against the police, I think they do the best they can with what resources they have.

That being said, it breaks my heart and makes me so angry whenever there is a story which breaks from here or the US which report how black people (young, old, etc) are being shot, suffocated, beaten, killed because the police were too heavy handed. I'd be lying if I said that didn't I made a conscious effort to walk everywhere and not run when I was in the States! And I ensured that whenever I turned a corner, I could see the police and not look suspicious - and I'm a tourist!

The cases of Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin and the others do not depict equality in this day and age. Black Lives Matter? ALL Lives Matter. Would British police have done this? I want to say no, that they are better than our American friends, and that they would think before doing such actions. But then again:

Police Taser their own black race relations adviser after mistaking him for wanted man

Sorry guys, but this issue is very close to my heart.

Whilst the overall video is not great the young man could have just let himself be arrested and saved getting punched any time he wanted. Sorry but if you resist arrest and get hurt doing so then you only have yourself to blame.

But there was no need to beat the kid.
The kid sat down on the curb, and the cop grabbed him, threw him on the ground and started beating the crap out of him, once when he was on the ground and again when he had another cop sat on him. The cop could've easily put the kid on his front and cuffed him.
And if the kid is behaving erratice and shouting "I am God" he is clearly mentally ill.
No excuse for this behaviour.
