Switch off?
Mr N recently commented that I need to learn to switch off when I come home from work. He says I need to make my brain shut down. No thoughts of work or home or chores, just chill out.
How does everyone manage to do this?
My brain just doesn't ever stop! xx

You always have to plan ahead where the next jobs coming from ... what you need to order ... invoices ... quotes ....etc ... I am a carpenter always something to sort out....
I do have a garage with 3 old cars that's where I usually disappeared to forget the day job ...

I can work up to 80hours on the bounce so when I get down time I make myself a coffee stick the telly on and mentally force myself to stay there for at least two hours minimum to let my mind switch off from work

Same here, look like a zombie most of the time! My brain multi tasks. So even when I'm doing something to unwind I'm planning work tomorrow, redesigning the garden and redecorating the house (all in my mind) at the same time! lol xx

Although note to all us night owls who use screens be it tab iPads or phones

We should put it down an hour before bedtime

Yes yes yes yes so me
Although I tend to hide my zombie look with a bit of slap and remarkably I get away with it 95% of the time

Or then I crash n burn every now and again n get 8 hrs sleep

Computer games, reading, writing; any form of escapism where I'm thinking about worlds and places other than reality, exercise helps too - I used to go swimming every day and that became almost meditative (helped that the pool was pretty much empty) just doing laps up and down and letting my mind drift.
Ever tried free writing? That can be a great way to help brain dump out stress and let the brain unfuzz out a load of brain spagetti...
Just clicked on your link, never heard of it before. Sounds quite interesting actually. I used to write a lot. I had quite a little library of short stories until I destroyed them all a few years back. Might actually have to start again xx

I work with family and kids who are at risk and vulnerable
So there are some very very sad situations thst in this day and age we shouldn't be dealing with

So I'm generally trying to find ways n means of supporting them ...

So where I work the local stats are 1 in 2 kids go to bed hungry each night , where national average is 1-5

So the heads usually buzzing with who what when where how

Anywhoooo that's one of reasons for not switching off
