This resonates with me. I've been told I'm not normal by members of my family, but I've got to the stage that I'm happy where I am. I couldn't live their lives and they couldn't live mine. XxxI did consider not posting about this, there is a lot of stigma and misunderstanding. But other folks have bravely spoke about things like bi-polar and depression, which are also often stigmatised and misunderstood.
I've got ADHD, combined type (so hyperactive/ impulsive and inattentive). It manifests differently in girls to boys, so I strongly suspect that had we been kids nowadays my brother's would have definitely been picked up but mine may not have done.
It causes me, and has caused me a lot of problems. At the same time though it is a lot to 'blame' for character traits that are a big part of me, and which I like (and others like about me). It must be one of the only neurological conditions with a bright side.
Aside from not swearing profusely I am myself on here, I reign it in a lot elsewhere, very self conscious of my randomness - it all seems good here though, I feel very accepted
