A phrase we all say or type here and there.. "Yeah too busy IRL" or simply - "Not sure what my plans are IRL ATM"..
But isn't this real life? Isn't everything we do on here, effectively a part of real life? The end game (meets with people) is of course a huge example of real life.. we share with other people.
So does the term - IRL (in real life) really apply to a site like this? After all, this IS real life isn't it. It's not a fantasy....
Well okay it is for some :D x

This site is a part of my real life. I met @Miss-Sexy-Legs here and believe me she is real
RL is just another example of a label that we all use and I guess we use it when we need to refer to some other important aspect of life that we need to deal with as a priority over being on here or attending a club event for example.

No longer with us

Well, I guess someone has to be miseryguts, so... no, this isn’t ‘In Real Life’ for me.

OK, the pics I have on my profile are real, and really me, but... but no one here is particularly interested in my ‘real’ name; they’re as happy to use ‘fincon’ as I am to use it.

I’ve not met anyone from here, but that’s not a parameter I recognise; when I was Financial Director of a company, I’d often not met transatlantic contacts, and I thought of them as part of my ‘real life’.

The difference for me (I don’t expect anyone else to agree, honestly) is... do people share “the triumphs and disasters” of everyday life? I mentioned I recently had a health scare, to explain my absence for a bit, but it wouldn’t have occured to me to tell anyone here what it was unsolicited, nor would it have occurred to anyone to ask. I don’t have anyone from here’s phone number, and no-one’s asked for mine.

Now it could be - it is, I’m sure - that maybe I’m on the wrong site; this is SocialSwinging after all, and I’m not renowned among even my friends as the most social of people... but no. I don’t think of this as part of ‘In Real Life” any more than I do any message board.

As I say, I fully expect to be regarded as in the wrong here...

It is very much real life but when we say it I think we mean more like family life takes over. And I guess alot of us keep this side of our lives from friends and family due to lack of understanding. There fore this side of things is distant from our 'real' lives.

It is what you make of it, I guess. It is part of RL for me, in the same way that my job is part of RL - it's not the only aspect of it, but it is quite an important part and it was before I became a member of staff. Making friends, meeting new people, visiting new places (all of which I've done through SS) is very 'RL'.

Well it’s real life for us.... But clearly family and work commitments come first. We’ve shared with a number of our close friends, who at first were very judgemental but I think are now rather envious that they’re missing out on all this naughty fun :sneaky: I MrsS have also made some lovely friends here so win win xx

When I first saw The Matrix at the cinema, I remember coming out of there and thinking, Fuck. Maybe we're in the Matrix and bin Laden is trying to get us out?

Welcome to the future...

Interesting thread.
For me, at the moment, this is a part of my life. Of course, by that definition, it has to be real life.
I do, however, realise there are people who have differing interpretations of what they consider real life.
Personally, I think, for me at least, it largely depends on how "real" one's interactions with others are.

My hope is that, in time, people on here will want to message me privately to discuss something or other and ultimately I will meet people in "real life". That is the main reason I'm looking forward to attending the 3rd birthday bash. I'm not going there in the hope that I might "get a shag". No, I'm going there in the hope that I'll form some new friendships with people that I have "spoken" to on here and feel I have a connection with. Once I meet and hopefully become friends with these people then I can absolutely say that this is my REAL LIFE xx

Is this real life?
Yes and no.
I've been thinking on how to reply to this post. Type some wisecrack and move on, type a load of emotional drivel and bore everyone.
This site is a big part of real life in a way especially for me. I can escape to a place where nobody really knows me and there's always something/someone that puts a smile on my face or makes tears roll down my face with laughter.
But it's also not real life, nobody knows me or what I'm going through at any given moment. You people see the same happy go lucky persona that my friends see. Basically you see what I want you to see.

Real life? My friends know the names of my children but they have never seen me wearing knickers.
You folks (unfortunately) have seen me wearing knickers, but wouldn't know me if I walked past you in the street (well most of you wouldn't).

I guess both lives are real lives but one is more important than the other.
Strangely enough though I do see many of you as friends and many of you are very supportive if you sense I'm going through a difficult time :)

Hmmm, great question, but so many answers, For us, it's real life when here, but another life when not,
This lifestyle has become an integration of our real lives, within the normal world we share with the vanilla community, so in that respect, for us yes it's real life, but for others, it's maybe a fantasy, and even a total disgust if not within the lifestyle.
We know where we want to stay, we've definately eaten the lifestyle apple and are at the supermarket integrating more apples whenever we can lol xxxx

If you were to meet, come to a social - site organised party or event, then surely that is real life.. is it not?
Irrespective of whether it's a site online or not, meeting physically with other people is after all real life?
So this then surely must be real life... :) x

I've come to regard these internet-themed play-days I have on occasion to be not quite real - more like dropping out of real life, or going on some brief, slutty holiday.

There's no bills or work or bedtimes or any of that day to day stuff.

And I get to meet all kinds of new people :)

Same here.... even though I work here. :cautious: :sneaky:
true though. It really is. It's an 'off switch' isn't it.

I need, right now, some naughty knickers, some sexy scents and those lil touches. So see you soon. I think.... :ninja:
