I was about to pen a lengthy response to this thread when I realised the title is Wine Drinking, not Wife Drinking.

I like a wine and soda, only white so for me it's just like pop. Red? I have no idea how people can spot all these different flavours going on. I spent one evening with @Admin discussing the taste of smoked oak in this red he had but I couldn't get it

I couldn't agree more.
"Oooooohhh very fruity" - tastes like vinegar.
"Oooooohhh I'm getting plum and cherry" - tastes like vinegar.
"Oooooohhh this is smooth" - tastes like vinegar.
"Oooooohhh this is spicy" - tastes like vinegar.
"Oooooohhh goes well with Lamb" - goes well on your chips more like .

Downing 3/4 of a very expensive bottle of red wine can turn you off it for life
Mixing wine with more fruit usually makes it taste better. Thanks Echo Falls

If the second point is downing 3 out of the 4 bottles of expensive wine you have puts you off then yes its true but not for life maybe just a couple of days... That might be just me tho

I have to say that a full body red can't be beaten .. The cheaper ones can taste like vinegar for sure but a nice chateaunuef cannot be beaten...nor can a rioja ..
As for can you have a cold red wine
. Of course you can.. Fruity wines were designed for the fridge Beaujolais nouveau being the most famous ..
Red wine is essential for my diet and the better quality the red the better the chance of not having a hangover .
