Which part is supposed to be sexist and racist because i'm not seeing anythingo_Ox
Nor me but with cartoons they emphasise on certain features of the face for eg, she is black so has larger features which is being slated, where the sexism comes in I don't know.
The caricature who did this has slammed the abuse saying it is no different to him making a cartoon of John Macenroe x

So if it were a skinny white male would it be racist, John McEnroe for example. I just think it emphasis on her somewhat volatile nature.

Exactly, she is volatile and Mcenroe was no different but he never threw the racist, sexist card like this woman x

I believe there was something about this in the news but I wasn't interested enough to read it. My comment was based purely on the image.
As I say I don't know the story behind this but if there was a genuine racist or sexist reason behind it then ok it's in poor taste. If it's just her throwing the teddy out then let her rant.

I go along with what one tennis star and pundit said about this. True no male tennis player has been treated like this, but that's possibly because no other player male or female has ever behaved like she did before.
Sexist? No, because the implication is that any attack or critisism of a female for any reason or in any way is by it's nature sexist.
Nasty caricature? No different to any be it a white or black, male or female.
Do I not care because I'm racist? Well I've already said before if anything black girls turn me on.
I don't see this as a black female tennis star issue, I see this as a badly behaved and unsportsmanlike issue.
Was it unduly hard on her because she's a woman? Debatable, after all her female opponent wasn't discriminated against as far as I know.

I feel for the opponent, all the glory has been taken away from here x

Of course it's fucking racist. It looks like one of those old cartoons from the 30s. The twat who drew this has got form in this area and works for a Murdoch rag (enough said). It's fucking disgusting that he feels he can still publish this shit and get away without anyone saying something, then giving it the old "oh boo hoo, my free speech and stuff". Pathetic.

As a general rule of thumb, I give greater weight to the of opinions groups about who possible offence has potentially been caused. It’s, as I say, a general rule of thumb, and of course, there are always exceptions in individual circumstances.

But as a straight white fella, I don’t tell gay people something’s not homophobic if they’re saying it is. Same with misogyny; if a woman tells me something’s overtly sexist, their opinion carries more weight with me than a fella saying ‘no it isn’t’.

In this case, every black person I know is saying ‘it’s racist’. Whether I see it as racist or not, (as it happens, I think it steps over the line, yes), I’m not about to tell them - with far greater experience of racism against people of colour than me - that they’re wrong.

It's certainly isn't sexist in my point of view. Racist that's prehaps more a maybe, what I mean is the cartoon itself I don't see as being racist, it is racially insensitive though (because the physical characteristics the caricaturist has chosen to exaggerate are the same as those most racist cartoons do) that could be racist depending on accompanying captions and articles.

P.S. I also think is a shit cartoon,

P.S.S. whatever happened to sportsmanship, accepting that referee's decision with a swings and roundabouts attitude.

I’ve never quite ‘got’ sport. Never enjoyed it as a kid, and I’ve never regarded it as an inherently ‘good’ thing. As for the ‘whatever happened to’, it’s been a very long time since that applied in professional sports and even then, only in certain sports.

Football’s had its ‘sendings off for arguing with the ref’ for decades, and even in tennis... before McEnroe, there was Ilie Năstase.

People can lose it in these situations. This is for anyone who hasn't seen other tennis players lose it before. It's the media attention that has reacted differently, there is much more attention to serena than there were of any in this video. I hope the link works, it's a Facebook video of clips

I'm not a tennis fan either, I'm a rugby fan & player. I don't agree with how Serena reacted, but also think she wasn't as bad as people are making out. The cartoon is distasteful, and I am in no position to say its not racist as I'm a white woman. I think it's best to listen to people of colour on this topic, as it is not something white people would have personal experience of.
