What do you do usually? Do you have little ones still at home etc?
For us, we still have two young ones still home and every year we do the same thing; a party and fireworks at ours.
Homemade burgers - make proper big “man size” burgers, wine, beers.. and usually about an hours’ worth of fireworks.
The kids love it and it’s definitely routine to do the same things each year. Food, drinks and just fun in the garden.
We do have a dog and a cat too who are really good with fireworks but we do make sure they stay in too.
We’re very conscious about how scared animals get. But we do enjoy what we do.
What do you do? Do you do your own displays in the garden or do you go to an organised display? X

Unless I go to an organised event then I don't bother. However my rescue dog, which I've had for about 4 years is terrified of fireworks so now it's stay in and keep him company.

3 years in a row my family got hit by fireworks at different organised events (the last one a fountain fell over and I shielded my son and daughter whilst my back caught fire and the Marshalls ran over, threw a fireblanket on me and 3 of them shielded me. All 4 of us adults got burnt but the kids were ok) so now I do my own in my garden usually.
This year I went to a family members and did a joint one. They're a bit posh and had slow cooked lamb sandwiches but normally I do good old fashioned burgers, hotdogs and pie and peas.

We used to do the exact same thing but now our kids are bigger. 18 and 15 they are no longer interested. Make the most of them while they are young enough to want to spend time with the family.

Agreed. Our eldest is 25 and it's gone within a blink of an eye. Enjoy it while we can I say and we definitely do enjoy things more now with our youngest and appreciate things more I think.
We love it and make a really good evening out of it.

I had a big thick coat on, so I escaped with minor burns and a singed head .

My neck was sore for a couple if weeks but no serious long term damage was done.

Good to see that you also (along with @Therapon ) have rescue dogs.
We’re very lucky with our pooch. It doesn’t bother her in the slightest.
But having grown up with and having our own dogs for years, I’m very much aware of how scared our little friends get.
