A little Thursday musing. Is discretion an important factor in this lifestyle? I know myself ,with being quite active at clubs,I like the privacy part of it.Does it worry you now, that swinging has become a focus point in social media? That so many people, clubs have started broadcasting their personal business everywhere? Do you worry that by being in the spotlight,it may attract the wrong sort of people, making it harder to find genuine play partners?

I don’t worry as such, I get more frustrated by the behaviour of others, when we started this many years ago Swinging was under ground and wasn’t heard of as such. I would say the start of dating sites played a part of the downward spiral creating the quick weekend hookup for one night. More clubs and sites opening. Annual festivals for press to sink their teeth into and giving the dirt out on the worst side of swinging. What’s been a very respected private scene is now open and a free for all but a lack of understanding on how it all works.
I see it every day here from behaviour, people still don’t fully understand the nature of swinging. As for privacy, with so many platforms including social media it will now attract every Tom Dick and Harry which sadly can carry certain dangers.
As for clubs, who knows what clientele are attending, I would say only a certain percentage are actually swingers.

I think it’s a fine line we have to tread in this lifestyle, and I do believe discretion is important!

Will more fakes come out of the woodwork with the rise of social media? Yes, there will be.

So, how do you separate genuine play partners from fakes? Well that’s the age old question, you have to trust your gut, at the end of the day! Chatting & socials will only get you so far.

For me, discretion and privacy go hand in hand. What individual people or couples do, is for there benefit only.
You tend to find that they have a tight loyal group of friends who they enjoy spending time with.
The danger is moving out of this circle and expanding your horizons. There lies the danger.

I agree that discretion and privacy are essential and it's to an extent with groups who regularly meet for enjoyment.
However I don't agree that expanding their horizons is a problem in itself. The problem is when that group turns into a clique, where seeing anyone outside of the group causes envy and jealousy within the group and/or when that clique join a site but refuse to interact with outsiders. We have seen cliques close ranks on other members and it's not pretty to watch as discretion is ditched and bullying takes over.

Think being discreet is a part of this lifestyle we all have “vanilla”sides and would probably prefer them to stay separate..... it’s probably more in the spotlight now with all the internet interests and tv programmes on mainstream tv ...
That word “genuine “ ?you hear it so much but is “genuine “ actually “genuine “ or are the “genuine “ ones those to avoid when choosing play partners ... :tiphat:
