Does it not depend to a degree on the reason for the lie ?
A small lie intended to protect someone’s feelings is understandable and forgivable!, “Does my bum look big in this” “no darling ( it looks big in everything you wear ) “
A tissue of lies intended to deceive is never acceptable! , lies need a memory , truth does not !
But probably the worst lies are the ones we tell ourself! !! “one more drink won’t hurt” or “it’s ok I can stop XXXX anytime”
