I think... we form an impression of someone when we speak to them online, rather than pre-judge them - and I think that's unavoidable. In my experience, online personas are reasonably accurate most of the time. I'm not just talking about swingers' sites, either, we've met people from other types of community websites and the impressions are mostly borne out. There have been a few horrible exceptions in the past, but on the whole if we like people online, we like them 'IRL'

There are a few problems with online personas. We might, for example, be able to see a picture of someone and think we know what they look like, but not take into account things like scale - I have, more than once, been told I seemed taller online!!:confused:
Also there are the nuances of speech and the facial expressions that we miss. The example that @Therapon mentioned earlier: if he could have seen and heard the equal measures of gloom, hope and expectation that went with what I said, he would have known, without doubt, which team I supported. :D

Yeah damn right we do.. some are better than expected.. some are obviously not so.. i must admit though this weekend most excelled what i was expecting.. it was bloody enlightening and refreshing. Xx scrunchy you are a gem.


Awwww only just seen this my lovely. As are you. I'm only sad that we didn't get more time to chat with you. You'll soon be sick of me ;)
