I've had the letters. Really couldn't bring myself to even look at themXJust had our estimates, we’re going up to £2.5k PA. ???

No idea what this means, but I will assume it refers to how much more you are paying for energy and THAT does translate easily into the US.Just had our estimates, we’re going up to £2.5k PA. ???

I’m paying £1.50 a litre of unleaded, an increase of 40p in the past few months. As for our Electricity and gas which runs the house, we’ve doubled from £100 to £200 a month. No idea what this means, but I will assume it refers to how much more you are paying for energy and THAT does translate easily into the US.
Gas , i think you call it petrol, seems to go up hourly.
Im probably going to have to buy one more tank of oil to heat the house with this winter. I may have to mortage the house to pay for it.
Worse part is, the US has more oil in the ground than almost any other country.
But politics doesnt allow us to use that oil .
20p cheaper here ?I think it’s just the start it’s likely to just get higher and higher as the year goes on … Diesel here is nearly £1.60 a litre won’t belong until it hits £2 especially if we keep turning away tankers from the refineries…. Like cutting your nose off to spite your face …

I Googled" how many pence in a pound", so I could understand what you were saying, and I got this,
There is xHow many pence in 1 pound? (How many 1p in £1?)
Here we will show you how to calculate how many pence there are in 1 pound. In other words, how many 1p coins in £1?valeur.uk
Is it just me, or is that a very difficult way to say " there are 100 pence in a pound"?
If my math is correct, to put it into a way an American would understand, your price for unleaded went up 40%.I’m paying £1.50 a litre of unleaded, an increase of 40p in the past few months. As for our Electricity and gas which runs the house, we’ve doubled from £100 to £200 a month.
Sorry I don’t know the conversion to dollar ?
I’ve just been past a few Petrol Stations and Diesel this morning is between £1.75 and £1.80 a litre now (… Petrol is around £0.10 per litre less than Diesel ) that’s an over night increase … so if you’re paying £0.81 per litre that’s really cheap it hasn’t been that low here for years ..If i did this right, I am paying 0.81 GBP for a litre of regular gasoline.
$4.30 USD for a US gallon.
A litre is about 1/4 of a US gallon.
And a GBP is about 3/4 of a USD.
Maybe somebody smarter than me can correct my math.
Gasoline was half this much a few months ago
...ridiculous!!Diesel this morning is between £1.75 and £1.80
I think the US has always been cheaper than the UK because, we used to, produce most of our own and we can import from canada or south America a lot cheaper than you can import.I’ve just been past a few Petrol Stations and Diesel this morning is between £1.75 and £1.80 a litre now (… Petrol is around £0.10 per litre less than Diesel ) that’s an over night increase … so if you’re paying £0.81 per litre that’s really cheap it hasn’t been that low here for years ..
True …. We have oil and gas in the North Sea but we don’t seem to get the benefits of lower fuel prices …I think the US has always been cheaper than the UK because, we used to, produce most of our own and we can import from canada or south America a lot cheaper than you can import.
But, regardless of what the total is, it is twice what it was a few months ago and that hurts the same whether it hurts in USD, GBP, gallons or litres.

Are we already for the hike in costs from tomorrow or shall we all jump in the river now
I’m thinking of building some kind of fire thingy to put in the kitchen out of a metal drumI'm not jumping in the river, I can't afford to heat that much water so I'm off to hibernate
