Did you know that to vote in the EU Referendum that you have to register?

I didn't. ...I assumed that because I was already registered to vote that I would automatically be sent the necessary voting card.

You need to register before the 7th June and this is the link to the Government website

Me too. This was one of those random office conversations that I had this morning and I thought there must be others working on the same assumptions as me x

Okay, hmm I just looked and this is what I found?
EU Referendum - About my vote
It says in there about not having to re-register?
Bloody trying to pull the wool over our eyes are they?

Do I need to re-register to vote in the EU Referendum?
Anyone who was already registered to vote (or recently registered) before the 18 April deadline for the elections taking place across the UK on 5 May will also be registered to vote at the EU Referendum and will be able to cast their vote. You do not need to re-register.

If your circumstances change, for example you move home between now and the EU Referendum registration deadline on 7 June, then you will need to re-register at your new property.

I knew nothing about this, I thought it was automatic if you were already registered. Why would they even do this? So's we'd not vote
