Comes from the tale of Hansel and Gretel where they’re so close that no love was lost between them..."I could care less".....no,no,i'ts "i could not care less".

When i was in school we were taught dice is one and the plural was die.As we all know by now:
Dice is the plural of Die
1 is Die
2 or more is Dice
Common knowledge now yes?
But no! It's apparently changed now. In Modern English Dice is now both the plural and singular.
Why are they changing things I've already learnt?
