Hi everyone.

For a few days something has been bugging us, well Baldrick mostly. There is talk about this site having Core Members or a Core Group.
What is a Core Member? Where is this Core Group? Are we a part of it? We may talk to the same 10 members quite regularly, are they the Core Group? Or just a part of it?

Here's the thing. I don't think a core group exists. There are loads of regular members, that interact with each other yet we don't interact with much, just because there isn't enough hours in the day really. However we still feel very much part of the community.

Here's the thing. I don't think there is a secret to making friends on here, you just have to join in on the forums.
Our profile says we joined July 2016, but we only started engaging in the forums May 2017. I would say in those six months we have become well known across the SS community (for better or worse). That's the only secret to it as far as we can see. Just join in the forums, discussions and games.

We see new members come and go. Why? Did they come for a quick perv? Couldn't they find the forums? Or this secret Core Group?
Other new members come, jump straight in to the forums, and BAM they're immediately part of the community.

I suppose our questions to you are:-
1. What is a Core Member?
2. Are you a Core Member?
3. Have you seen this Core Group?
4. Are you part of the Core Group?
5. Is there an initiation ritual?

Ah look here we have a Core Member :D.Regrettably we don't talk much @MP386 but we do have fly bys now and again. Do you think you are in a Core Group? You have a rapport with members we do not. Is this simply just your own particular circle of friends or something far more sinister?:rofl:

In answer to your question I think there is a core membership. It is there because these are the members who are the most active in the forums. Core membership does not indicate exclusivity. Anyone who joins in the forums is made welcome and is entitled to a view whether others like it or agree with it or disagree with it. We dip in and out as time allows as do others. Because we are not always visible in there it does not mean we feel excluded in any way. If existing members or new members want to be 'core ' members then get stuck in and welcome to the SS swinging world. If you don't then that is your choice but enjoy yourselves anyway. This is a caring community who welcomes everyone that treats others with respect and dignity. It doesn't mean you have to agree with everything to fit in it means that there are ways of having an opposite view and being comfortable airing it.

Hmm a core member ... is it a member that contributes and adds quality to the site ..

Do they care about the site and also promote it to others when in clubs or at socials

Is the site a part of their life that has become important to a degree where the caring is genuine and heartfelt and the feeling of belonging to something good enriches their lives ..
I think so ....
By your definition Mel you are most definately a core member, yet we have not really spoken very much either regrettably (although your 'exclaimatiin mark button' and hatred of emoji's scares us a bit :D).

Would we be core members by your definition?
We do contribute to the site, although I wouldn't like to comment on the quality of our contributions .
We don't promote the site to outsiders though like you do. Our swinging curiousities are kept private from our friends.
The site is definately an enriching part of our lives and we do support it. Baldrick in particular is very passionate about it.

Btw we see you about the site alot and we applaud your efforts to promote it at the clubs.

Well I am lost about core members, However I guess no one has real problem about membership costs and I am sure that there is a lot of work and costs goes into this site to which I for one are very grateful. When things change people usually like to know what those changes i are we are like that! I guess its also a commercial chose that the rulers have to make if peeps dont like you will soon see a drop in attendance, If it works we will all keep logging on !!! best wishes to all

We absolutely 100% agree with this answer above. You don't have to post everyday to be a core member. We use this site as time allows (some weeks more than others). Sometimes RL gets in the way for us too.
So just for fun we have another question for you two.

You have two members. One never posts yet contributes £20 a month. The other posts in the forums all the time and welcomes newbies. Which one is the Core Member'? Are they both 'Core Members'?
Errm sorry for picking on you two with this question :D

It doesn't mean you have to agree with everything to fit in it means that there are ways of having an opposite view and being comfortable airing it.

Yes we really agree with this especially. It's good to debate with people with differing views. There isn't ever a need to be rude about it.

Would you consider yourself a 'Usual Suspect' then or a 'Core Member'?
We think of you as a regular contributor to the forums.
Are you in a Core Group?

Hey guys. I suppose to some I could be a usual suspect or core member, I think the wording ultimately means the same thing. As you mentioned you interact with some more than others but you would still see posts made by those who you chat with less. They would still be a core member / usual suspect due the fact that they contribute to the site as a whole rather than a select few members.

Good afternoon Gent

This thread really isn't about membership costs but as a note please remember that membership remains free and the upgrade is voluntary (y).

This thread is quite simple. Do you believe there are core members? Are you core a core member? Do you feel there is a core group?(y)

We would say you are a core member, a contributor and site supporter.

Hmmmm.... I think membership is what you make it core or otherwise. This is my view only.... if you contribute a sum of money over and above it is done presumably because the site adds value to you irrespective of whether you participate in the forums. It may well be that you just use it for facilitating meets only. You may be in a position where you are finding your feet in the swinging world and being part of the forums brings you confidence in chatting with others or maybe helps you decide where you fit in the swinging world or maybe even puts perspective on sexual interests if they are outside of society's considered norm. At this stage you may not be meeting. So my question to you is who contributes most to the site. Those who meet regularly with others on here or those who chat to others on here?

I think we all have a place and a lot to offer. If you are getting out of it what you want does it matter whether you post in the forums. The thing about the forums is that you are more up front and central but there will also be lots going on in the background in terms of meeting people and the rest of us being none the wiser.

I have been a member here 2years but didn’t use the site regularly for the first six months as I didn’t think I would fit in or be accepted as a single bloke ..things happened last year namely my mum died which during her last weeks I started using the site as a means to escape from everything...Everyone was very supportive and got me past that period which is not the easiest for anyone ...
I have met some lovely couples and single ladies who have made being here a pleasure ...some are still here some have gone ....
I don’t consider myself to be a core member sure some would like to see the back of me .... but it’s become habit for me to be here I chat to less than a handful regularly....
For me from the start chatting to couples is always a challenge...being honest it’s the lady I am attracted too most ... but i generally leave it up to them to message if they are interested in knowing me ... not sure that makes sense but if a couple messages me I consider that they are both happy too ...
At the moment I only participate in the forums I find fun ... anything that I consider to be too serious where stuff gets misunderstood and taken in the wrong context I will read but for now I won’t be contributing too ....
so I just consider my self a regular.... who dips in and out ....

We absolutely agree.
Ok so then do you think there is an impenetrable Core Group (this is something we've seen suggested recently) or just lots of little 'circles of friends' groups?

I think there will always be the little circles of friends as they will have more in common with each other, be it humour, sexuality, kinks or admiration for similar cartoon opening titles.

As for an impenetrable circle :sneaky:.....ahem..... but yeah I think there was one. Purely my own observation and not some conspiracy.

Excellent answer. So to sum up both hypothetical members are equally as valued? Both a core member? Yes? (y)

 don't you reverse your tricksie questions back to us .

We will get back to this question. Currently gathering intel. However we believe initially that both members are using the site so are equally as valuable.
However..... would people log on the site if there were no forums and just a chatroom to negotiate meets? We probably wouldn't to be honest.

We've got to be honest here MP. We really do see you as a big contributor to the site. The place wouldn't be the same without your well mannered but cheeky comments ;).
It is always a pleasure talking to you :tiphat:.

We are really sorry to hear about your mum and are glad that you found comfort and support here. That's really what differs this site to all the rest.

Thank you ... i am not the only who been through this recently but it’s been good to me here..
Cheeky comments are easy behind a key board... not so easy in person ...
I have made a Pratt out of myself on more than one occasion but if it makes someone smile it’s all good ...
And well as we’re having virtual man hugs it’s always a pleasure to talk to you ....;)
