Faced with turning 50 in a few weeks I found myself reminiscing about things that have been .. Shops... Faith shoes electric ballroom, woolworths, biba, nightclubs, bars and now the Kennington rooftop... etc .. And as is with age everything dates...
So my question is this...
Now that everyone shops online.. Me included these days... And more and more main street shops shut.. Empty buildings are everywhere...
What will our high streets become
Not every shop can be a cafe charity shop or pop up pub ..
What do you think we will see in the next ten years that will fill the empty shops and do you think shopping centres will become a thing of the past... I mean you can pretty much get everything online . .
Over to you..

Our town centre is full of barbers and coffee shops.
I think it will be self serve every where. We can now get flowers out of a vending machine.
What will happen to communication.

I know what you mean
Most of the Banks are closing the branches
Think the high streets are struggling the most. Big shopping centres with parking or public transport links are better placed
You'd still need Electronic shops for TVs, Mobiles etc - I know you can buy online but most people want to see them in real life
Personally don't use the Grocery delivery services - I want to check out the fruit isn't bruised or crushed and the bread has more than a days life
You could be heading for the likes of 2nd hand or Charity stores and something that needs physical contact (Chiropractor, Dentist, Massage parlour etc) and lose the likes of Travel Agents and Grocers
Most independent bookshops have gone and the likes of Waterstones struggle against online

And yet curry's and pc world offer better deals online now.. Our new TV was cheaper online than in the shop but we only found that out when we went to the shop and the sales assistant told us .
Weird

... and the record shops :( The little, cramped emporiums of awesomeness. God, I miss them being on every highstreet.

I know
But you still went to the shop to look at the different screens to make a decision
Imagine doing that from a computer screen
It wouldn't work
