As it was just across the water from here it was quite close to home , as for blame you have to point the finger at the scum that take money to exploit these people.... but there’s always a but .... however desperate you are would you get in a refrigerated sealed container ??The 39 people found dead in the back of a lorry.
There seems to be lots of questions surrounding this.
Arguing who is to blame.
What do you guys think?
I read earlier parents of one of the younger ones paid £30,000 to send her illegally over. What parent would do that?As it was just across the water from here it was quite close to home , as for blame you have to point the finger at the scum that take money to exploit these people.... but there’s always a but .... however desperate you are would you get in a refrigerated sealed container ??
People traffickers. The 39 people found dead in the back of a lorry.

I’ve no idea sure going through the correct channels probably wouldn’t be as expensive.... if that were even possibleI read earlier parents of one of the younger ones paid £30,000 to send her illegally over. What parent would do that?
As a general rule of thumb, I don’t speculate on innocent or guilt (I’m genuinely a huge believer in sub judice) but as a lawyer reminded me long ago, the only people obliged to grant the assumption of ‘innocent until proven guilty in a court of law’ are the judge and jury. It would, after all, be a pretty daft prosecutor who assumed the innocence of someone he was prosecuting. What about the driver?
Is he guilty if he didn’t know they were there?
If he can prove he wasn’t involved then why should he be prosecuted...he picks up a trailer from the docks in good faith, question is who opened it to find the bodies ? So did they know people were inside? Was it the driver which kind of says he probably knew what the cargo was ...What about the driver?
Is he guilty if he didn’t know they were there?
It would be awful if he did know. Sadly he’s thought of as guilty. I don’t know, it’s very sad.As a general rule of thumb, I don’t speculate on innocent or guilt (I’m genuinely a huge believer in sub judice) but as a lawyer reminded me long ago, the only people obliged to grant the assumption of ‘innocent until proven guilty in a court of law’ are the judge and jury. But I’m no lawyer, so I don’t know whether he’s legally liable. I find it… difficult to assume he didn’t know what was in his lorry though.
The driver opened it, vomited and the alarm was raised. That’s what I read on BBC news.If he can prove he wasn’t involved then why should he be prosecuted...he picks up a trailer from the docks in good faith, question is who opened it to find the bodies ? So did they know people were inside? Was it the driver which kind of says he probably knew what the cargo was ...
It’s incredibly difficult to prove a negative. If he can prove he wasn’t involved then why should he be prosecuted..
So why open a refrigerated container on a estate if you didn’t know who was in there ?The driver opened it, vomited and the alarm was raised. That’s what I read on BBC news.
I have no clue as he wouldn’t have heard anything at that point. Maybe he was wondering why it was so silent or still even. Good question that though. So why open a refrigerated container on a estate if you didn’t know who was in there ?
If in that position would you not give any evidence you can to prove your innocence? It’s incredibly difficult to prove a negative.
However, fortunately, the burden of proof in a criminal trial is on the prosecution. And they must prove not only knowledge but mens rea, the intent to commit the crime.
Boats, shipping containers, more boats, probably crammed into tiny spaces with nowhere to use the toilet, no water....Also how did they get from Vietnam?
Surely the people who put up the money have some guilt too?Boats, shipping containers, more boats, probably crammed into tiny spaces with nowhere to use the toilet, no water....
I can't imagine, PearlyGirly.
Without getting too involved, I find it abhorrent that the MSM released his name, face pic and locale in the news when we know nothing about his involvement. Goes to show - no one gives a shit any more. What about the driver?
Is he guilty if he didn’t know they were there?
I am personally just shocked and saddened that when I went to my local takeaway they told me that they were no longer allowed to put chinese in containers. HA Sorry I couldnt resist. Xx G
Surely the people who put up the money have some guilt too?
Agreed.Without getting too involved, I find it abhorrent that the MSM released his name, face pic and locale in the news when we know nothing about his involvement. Goes to show - no one gives a shit any more.
As for the people? God bless their souls. X
I might… but again, it’s not up to me to prove my innocence, it’s up to prosecution to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt. If in that position would you not give any evidence you can to prove your innocence?
I get that, I really do but if you have that amount of money then surely there is better than that?Yes, I see where you're coming from. But can you blame them for wanting to pay for a better life for their children/family?
No it isn’t perfect what so ever. Sadly.I might… but again, it’s not up to me to prove my innocence, it’s up to prosecution to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt.
Never forget that being found ‘not guilty’ doesn’t mean someone didn’t do it, merely that the prosecution couldn’t prove it to a jury, beyond that same reasonable doubt.
And, as case after case has shown, being found guilty doesn’t mean someone actually did it, merely that the prosecution convinced a jury that you did.
No justice system is perfect.
