The other half gets me batteries for Valentine's, it's an in-joke.

Some years ago she got me some 9V batteries and left instructions in the card to change the batteries in the smoke detectors. I was annoyed, she pointed out that I "don't do" commercial festivals and it stuck.

Well this year I really pushed the boat out as I was away. I sent Julie flowers, chocolate and wine, (get me in her good books for when I return) but she didn't seemed that impressed when I phoned her last night, I thought it was quite a romantic gesture on my part it's amazing what emojis you can send nowadays N
