Exactly this. If after logging out and back in you still have the banner, please change your avatar, logout then in and put your original/chosen avatar back up and it will clear the notice.

we have to log in each time we come on but tried it again and its now completed, one further question if we upgrade our membership by paying a monthly subscription what more features do we get?

You shouldn't need to relogin each time you come to the site?
With the memberships, they are currently still being adjusted due to several issues, however once back on track - the difference is much more storage for photos, videos and messages etc.
No site functionality is lost whatsoever in comparison to upgraded memberships against 'free' memberships.
