Apologies if this has been done before. I know there's a bod mod thread knocking about somewhere but this is purely a tattoo appreciation/disassociation discussion.

So tattoos, yay or nay?
Personally, I haven't got any (I know what I want, but it's a case of having the money to get it done and deciding on places to have them)but I love them!
When done right, I think they're sexy, each has their own story and meaning attached to it, some of the artwork is stunning and beautiful and funny at the same time.

How many do you have?
What do you have?
Does it have meaning?
Would you get more?

Get yer tatts out!

[P.S. I fully appreciate how this thread is of a similar vein to the face pics discussion, if you have any obvious recognisable tattoo, please don't feel forced to expose it :)]

Tigress

I love them. I designed my own two. The one on my shoulder is a star surrounded by a sun, with tiger stripes and flame. It represents a connection to the universe and our life giver, the Sun. The tiger stripes represent my fierce nature (if rattled) and the three coloured stars represent my sons. They each chose a colour.

The band on my left arm is a blackberry bramble. I chose it, because Blackberries are tenacious and prickly little buggers, but also have very delicate flowers and delicious fruits. I've got three blackberries on mine and again they represent my sons :)

My last tattoo.. which is sort off turning into a sleeve.. i got when my two girls and their families emigrated. Its a sugar stealer *dandelion clock* with pink and blue birds flying away .. to signify each of them and each of their children.
My thigh is covered with a tree.. but if you look closely its a woman.. i have the qoute running through it..
Family, are like the branches of a tree.
We all grow in different directions.
But our roots remain, as one. I have a few others i also have my youngest sons name on my inner arm.. with a black and white hummingbird.

I have one from 20 years ago, and still love it.... I would have another as I do admire some I've seen on the ladies in the gallery. Tattoos on men...., yes please  X

I have a few first two were silly ones but the last 3 reflect my love of flowers and I'm hoping to add more. G has a massive one on his back and two pins up on each arm. He's booked in for a full sleeve of pin ups soon x x x x x

Hahaha he's always loved pin ups! First one was of a lady sat on a spark plug, second one of a gorgeous lady with an oily wrag and spanner in her hand. Have spent the past week printing off pin ups and placing em on his arm. Becomes addictive he's gonna look lush! X

My friend is a tattooist and he is designing one for me as a representation of how he sees me and reflects my personality..... Can't wait for that outcome or where on my body he would place it !!!!
If I like it I may allow him to tattoo me (y)

I have one or 7. As mentioned I have an appointment to get the sleeve started in June. Only going to take about 36 hours to complete. It's going to be very detailed.

I love tatts on women.

I don't have any and really don't want any. Our lass has what I call a slag tag on her lower back and that's more than enough thank you. I know my wife regrets her tattoo but not enough to have it removed.

I have a half-completed one (needs colour) of a psychedelic smiley and Lis has a few, my favourite being two dragons kissing, forming the shape of a loveheart, that she had done to celebrate our wedding :)

I don't have any as I have a phobia about needles and even if I didn't I'm not sure I would want one. I have seen some great tattoos but also too many where you can only assume they must have been pissed when they had them done or the tattoo artist needed glasses.

A friend of mine had one done when she was pissed - by an equally-pissed tattooist's apprentice! The result was, in fact, a beautifully drawn Apache chief in a dreamcatcher, on her thigh..... upside down! :palm:

PS and for the record (sorry ladies) I am personally not really a fan of tattoos on ladies.
While some look amazing, I just personally am not keen.. Very sorry and no offence intended at all.

Some old friends from way back when, back in the biking days and one of the women had full sleeves, both breasts covered, legs, neck, hands.. she was mad as hell and could ride a chopper better than most, but was plastered in them.. And that's going back before tats became as popular as they are now. (15-20 years ago) she's beautiful but they looked awful on her. x

I have a dozen tattoos all have a meaning but the most precious to me is an angel wing copied from one my mother had on her ankle and the other is a cancer ribbon on my hand a few of us ladies had done after a parachute jump for Macmillan nurses xx

I have a Phoenix on my right arm and Mrs Phoenix has a few, one on her ankle in our pics, a small on with her mum on her wrist and a greening back piece that's not finished yet.
I love tattoo's that have had some.though put into them and done by an artist. Feminine tattoo's on a woman can really add to her sex appeal ;)
Done right, awsome. But there is a lot of crap our there too. Though it's true to say even those have meaning for the person they are on usually. Just not something I'd have or particularly like looking at.
