I have considered this question long and hard....sometimes I think I struggle with this lifestyle because of my upbringing...
Sex was never discussed (different generation) when you have a ring on your finger etc..
I hope I was open with my kids, ok taught them to be safe but at the same time was open and honest about relationships and if it was love or lust...wish I could have had the same discussion with my parents.....What's you thoughts peeps?? xxjxx

What a good topic I must say @Nigel&Julie.my up bringing was different but my parents were open in regards to sex but alway instilled in me not to do things to fit in with the it crowd and always ensure you were save.as a mother I was quite open with my children when they got to that age and the hormones started to change.xx

Katrina first.
My upbringing was an uncle every week lol. My mum had her first at 15 much to the annoyance to her mum who worked in the police force. She danced with legs and Co. So my upbring was a very open affair.
Derek I would say had a bit more of a closed door childhood. His dad was open mum not so.

I've moved this to a members-only forum, so that folks can feel more comfortable posting (y)

When I was about 8 or 9, I asked my mum where babies did actually come from. I can't remember exactly what she said, but she was quite frank with me and I recall her chuckling at the end "You wish you hadn't asked now, don't you?". I had quite a healthy upbringing, when it came to talking about sex and, I hope, we've carried this on with our kids. We both think it's important that the kids (all grown up, now) can talk to us, if they need to.

My childhood was very similar, sex was never spoken about except when a safe sex advert came on the TV and I was just told I should take note. :palm:

I'm quite lucky and have a very open relationship with my boys :) we can comfortably talk about anything and quite regularly do :)

Strange thing is nowadays my parents do talk to me about it(n) a little bit late now that I have 3 boy

There's a fact you've ruined for the 'Would I lie To You' thread lol

Impressive, though (y)
I never thought it was impressive when I was young being left with all sorts of aunties and uncles while she swanned around but now my attitude has changed and I wish I could tell her how proud of her I am

Being of a similar age the subject as far as I can remember never came up ...
Maybe if we had I would be a little more confident with it ...

Oh now this is interesting

Well I come from a very old fashioned good catholic Irish background

My daddy did little or nothing coz he was the man n mammy doing everything

5 kids and no discussion on sex what's the "periods " talk I was given a book that's as far as I got lol

If anything came on the TV it was switched off

Me thankfully I can talk about anything to anyone but I suppose society had different attitudes to sex yrs ago
