So as you know @Admin and I always have a lunch together, catch up with things and listen to Jeremy Vine.
One of today's topics is going to bed with your mobile phone.

So first caller, female, 39yrs old can not go to bed without her mobile or she will end up being depressed.. No comment to that.

Second caller, male in his 40s who has to take his mobile to bed just in case there is a fire.
He said the land line would burn out so he wouldn't be able to raise the alarm.
So at first I thought ok good point but then I thought if there was a fire down stairs and myself and my family were upstairs then using a phone would just delay my escape, it's simple, get out, stay out and then raise the alarm.

We do not take mobile devices to bed and never would for mainly health reasons but most of all because why would we want to?:sneaky:

Is society becoming so obsessed we are forgetting basic living.

Over to you folks (y)

Guys get an alarm clock, phones have been proven to make you have less sleep. How did you manage before? ;)

Yeah but my phone also lights when it alarms and conveniently pops up with any plans I have made.
My alarm clock lights up when it goes off then I get my ass out of bed and check what I have to do. Just try it and I promise you, you will get better sleep (y)

Haha rant time ....

I often have my phone on silent because it has this marvel of electonics, it called voice messaging. I also drive MSL mad sometimes as I'll leave the phone to ring if I'm doing something else, if it's important they will leave a message.
I have a life but I sure as hell am never going to stop what I'm doing and rush to answer the phone or reply to a message because someone expects an instant response. And then those times you are chatting and the other persons phone ringings and they have to answer it immediately or they say they have to check messages.
Yes people are obsessed by their phones and before I really go off on one I'll :censored:

Remember back in the day when you would have to dial on the land line, make a mistake and start all over again, never ring until after 6 as it was cheaper.. People really do need to stop and think what the future is, we are lucky, we have adult children and they don't take phones to bed, they went with our advice and both boys use an alarm and have both agreed to having better sleep than when they took phones to bed and these boys are the new generation.

Agreed completely. And people really actually question why it is, their sleep pattern is all over the shop. :palm:
It’s blatantly obvious but people are obsessed and mobile addicts so cannot leave them be.
Buy an alarm clock, leave your phone downstairs and you will sleep far better. Scientific fact so there’s no foundation for basis of argument. (y)

Back to digging I go  :censored:

I take my phone into the bedroom at night but it's always on silent and normally out of reach in my dressing gown.
Mobiles are useful, I normally use mine for satnav and internet access when out of the house. At home I normally use my laptop as it has a decent screen and I find it a lot easier and faster to type on a real keyboard. However as I said my mobile doesn't dictate my life, I never text whilst walking, I'm male and can't multitask, if people can't wait for 10 minutes until I can reply then tough.

If we're ranting, how about when you're having a conversation with someone and their phone rings and they interrupt the conversation to answer the phone.
That drives me nuts does that. It's like the phone is more important than the person you're talking to.
