So us having just been fined £60 each for the amount of time Kaz has let our Daughter have sick days from school because of PMS pains (I've long gone to work by this time and don't get consulted but have to pay a fine. Great ), I wondered what your thoughts are about this.
Not just for girls in school, but women in general. Should girls be allowed time off school for PMS pains? Should women be allowed paid time off work for PMS pains? We've lived in a male orientated society for so long now, do times need to change? Do we need to be more compassionate about this common problem or do the ladies need to woman up (as they say) and get on with things?

I have suffered terrible since hitting 40 (menopause) and am doubled up for at least two days, I would never need to take time off though, As you say "man up" I guess, I pop some painkillers and carry on. I find keeping busy helps though for me.
I don't think it effects my mood  but you would have to ask Mr A that :D
menopause does have it's advantages though :sneaky:
It's a tricky one for youngsters in school, I managed but know of others that didn't so it's a tough one x

A bit controversial isn't it. Nobody really speaks of sick leave for period pains. It seems to be just expected that you have to get on with it (at least that's what our fines suggest) (n)

I do know there is a condition if you have extreme period pain, I can't remember though. It is a tough one this as do you send your girl to school knowing she's in pain or agony?

That’s like me taking time off as a kid for growing pains. All part of life! :cautious:

Maybe there should be a flexi-system though for a case by case basis: proven by doctor reports. (y)

Balls to the fines. I find that terrible. But the school see it as truancy don’t they. Where does the money go though see? I’d have to file a FOI to see. Just to be a pain...

Exactly and It's difficult to prove. It's really peed me off that I have to pay a fine too when I don't even get a say in the matter as I'm long gone to work.

What about working women? If you took time off every month for period pains would you be ridiculed or get sacked?

Like I said, I wouldn't take time off and never in my adult life have, I really don't understand why you are being fined when she isn't capable of concentrating in school, did you inform them?

Gotta say mate; I’d be the same and well pissed myself too. Are they the ones that have to see your daughter curled up in agony?
As @Pearls says, she genuinely suffers really badly. It can wipe 2-3 day’s off her so quickly. I get frustrated as I can’t help... it’s wrong you get persecuted for it.
I don’t believe there should be a major change but I do think flexibility should come in to play here and you know what? Some decent common sense.

Well I thought it was all part off life too but is that cos we're men and not compassionate enough about it?

I don't think the doctors would be able to cope if everyone went with Period pains for a sick note.
I don't know the answer but I agree people should at least be able to explain themselves before getting an auto generated fine through the post. Our daughter did have to go to weekly visits for physiotherapy too on her finger and hospitals don't work around school hours.

My ex had a terrible time with PMS related migraines, some months they'd be so bad she could hardly function as a person, so I agree that some women sometimes do need sick leave because of it.

Yeah am just playing Devil’s Advocate....
I think it’s wrong being fined. I genuinely think that going to the GP for that would help with you being fined. I hear you with their being overstretched but you have to do what’s right for you and yours.
I’d fight it tbh but that’s me. Could be £6, £60 or £6,000. I’d do it out of principle.
After seeing HRH suffer (which she does) during her period as a result of the menopause- I know first hand how painful it can be for some people so better understanding is needed.

Fact is - the fkin school should know better!! Bastards. Tax machine. That’s all I see it as.

Unfortunately no. Kaz is a law unto herself and doesn't think about things like sick notes.
Also the it should be noted that the kids have mastered pulling the wool over Kaz's eyes and blagging sick days from school.
We have had many disagreements about this before and I tend to lose.
I think I will take her to the doctors though and see if they recommend the pill to help.

I would because as youve now been fined for her sick days you may now face a prison sentence and yes i do know it happens as my next door neighbour was given three days for unauthorised sick leave x

You should be able to get a letter from your Doc as supporting evidence ..subject close to my heart .... periods at 9 on pill by 10

Won't bore you with horrors
But medicine n attitude have moved on ...

I would fight it because you could end up with few fines across the coming years , you can't be penalised for something you've no control over

Certainly GP wise these no need for wee one to be suffering nowadays ..

I would fight this as it is unfair, I didn't suffer too badly until I was in my twenties and then it got horendous often had bad cramps and cronic lower back pain at the same time and I would often be doubled over in pain, I am going through the early menopause and haven't seen a period for nearly 8 months now and have to suffer random hot flushes which are awful and I still get what I call the sleepy month where it would totally wipe me out I just have to sleep as I feel so tired and lifeless all the time and it can continue for two weeks at a time. Also, mood swings were horrendous too. The law needs changing and yes I believe PMS should be counted.

I dont know about this PMS malarky but i know if they wanted £120 off me they would have to fight me every inch of the way even if it cost me more in the end. I would make the school a living misery for whoever sent them to me by just being akward and objecting to everything and demanding meetings and the like. They would end up paying me to stop being a pain in the arse.

Endometriosis.
I was seen at a private hospital last week because the NHS can't offer anymore procedures. I was gonna have endrometrial ablation but my C-section scar is too thin.
Hopefully I'm having a hysterectomy but been referred to another hospital where they have HDU or ICU due to being overweight, the op is risky, but just lost 3 stone.

Thanks. Can't tell much, the weight has come off my back, which has helped tremendously. Hopefully if I keep it up, I won't need bariatric surgery.

It's a brilliant start and i bet you feel better in yourself x
Absolutely, I got ridiculously huge. Which was just making my health worse. I'm looking forward to getting in my swimming costume and taking my littlest man swimming.
