before I ask this I just want to make sure everyone understands why I'm asking this

It's not a dig in any way and it's not to start any heated discussions I'm just curious, and would be nice to be able to interact will all on site.

Now I know this has been asked before but I'm hoping the newbies will chip in one this!

Why do people restrict the viewing of their profile? I do understand on other sites it's a must due to being hounded by not wanted people but I think I can safely speak for all when I say this is a one of a kind site that isn't like any other

Or is it that some people don't realise they have selected this setting?

What are your thoughts..........?

Good post...I wonder too.

Great thanks @Admin and @Pearls provide that option..But seems lame to me. Either you want ppl to contact you or you don't. Restriction seems like a lazy way of filtering.

Not new here .... I have no restrictions on who can look I inflict myself on everyone ....
people are entitled to restrictions which is fine but they may be missing out on something that could be good ...

I think it is for one of three reasons either they,
1. don't want they profile fully public until they are totally happy with it,
2. have had problems with trolling (or other online abuse) elsewhere and are still a bit wary,
3. have a general nervousness about the online world or being on a swinging site.

You just gave your own answer basically ,a lot of members come from sites where they get hounded so arrive with the expectations .
We work hard as a site, owners, staff and members to help change peoples views of SS ,we ALL make every new member/s feel welcome so that the disillusionment of other sites fades over time and in turn helps those who have these settings change them and hopefully enjoy SS for what it is

We have been on this site for almost two years and in all that time we have never had cause to block anyone let alone restrict our profile. If you want to be selective about who views what photos then this is easily achievable without stopping people from interacting with you. It does seem odd to me but there may be a good reason for it. As there are more now than I've ever seen then I may consider blocking them if they keep viewing our profile without us being able to interact.

Couldn't agree more .... I think it's so rude when someone views our profile and when I got to look at them I don't have permission to see there profile !
No excuse, just bad manners !!!

Here since April
Initially started out with open profile n media

Within 4/5 weeks I limited my media to people I follow due to a few incidents with some single males

The profile is now to read with no restrictions

Same as sammy. My profiles open, always has been (i think), but only people who follow can see my media x

People apparently restrict veiwing. I dont never have. As staff im not sure i actually can... Our media is viewable to those i follow only.. something i have always encouraged members to do.

I could be completely wrong here, its a social site. Its also a swinging site.. people come for sex initially.
They dont have the time.. incling .. cant be bothered.. to interact, they scan the site for playmates..
They do come from other sites, and have no idea unfortunately how this site works.
I think mr LNF has coveted a few good points above.
Re someone restricting and moving freely around site, viewing profiles... hmm

Do i agree with it No.. i do not, but thats my opinion.

Having said that a lot goes on behind closed doors..
Members have been hounded elsewhere.. by the same person over and over using different accounts.. cant happen here.. IP is checked as you know @StokeChoke.

I felt the need once to hide myself.. block... which for me is unusual.. but she was a physco..

Not everything is cut and dry.

I have mine a wee bit locked. Just one album only people that I follow can see. That's just because its a face pic and nudes album. I just feel this is something I want to keep to the people I follow. Don't want to inflict my scare body on everyone out there.xx

See all your answers are different in certain ways you show your profile yet restrict media so even though you've been here a while you are still wary of a total open profile ,so step back to when you first joined and how you felt being the newbie

As a newbie I felt very nervous. But in time the friendly staff and the warm reception of the members put me at ease.xx

The site came highly recommended to me so my profile has been open to all from the start. I did have a small issue a while back but was quickly resolved and felt the support from the site at the time so didn't feel the need to change it

I'm unrestricted. On other sites and here I will have periods of time unrestricted and times restricted, but that's purely around visibility of my face and if I've got other stuff going on that means I want to take my face out of play for a period (especially if I was busy and knew I wouldn't be on the site temporarily or as frequently).

We have changed our settings a few times normally following a thread something like this one. Was going to make our profile totally open then got swayed not to by others thoughts. Guess we are at the point of if someone was interested in us or just nosey they would ask and in most cases we would be more than happy to follow / be followed so they could see everything
