Presumably they have reasons
Not sure what they are but sure someone will explain and most would be legitimate and valid

We have never had a restricted profile and I don't think it's something we'll ever need. We do get frustrated if somebody views our profile and we can't view theirs in return. If their were an option we would block members with restricted profiles from viewing our profile. Fairs fair.

Having said that we have a public media album and a more intimate private album that the members we follow can access if they want.

Another new member joined today, before they've even uploaded an avatar they've hidden their profile. Don't know if it's male, female, couple or what not. What's the fucking point?

I thought e had a no avatar you're out of here rule (or is that after 3-days)

you'd have to question motive or doing that
sounds suspicious

There's a profile that joined early hours, no avatar that you can see the profile, the next profile which joined between 0200 and 12pm has no avatar and restricted their profile. It does seem a little suspicious.

Each to their own, if they want privacy that is their decision but then they also loose out if people can't see them as some won't interact with them. Hopefully they will change their mind once they get to know the site.
It makes you wonder if they join but are scared of being recognised. Which screams to me that they have something to hide possibly.

The 3 day rule. Users have 3 days to verify.
They also have to load 3 media, to infact lift restrictions.
Their avatar has to be none explicit.. and of them.
We cannot force people to load an avatar, though we try our best to encourage.
The rules re the above are allover the site. ;)

Yes that account has actually restricted their account rather than just not validated their email address etc.
Why some do it is probably very obvious as already discussed (other sites etc).
Some may have legitimate reasons and no doubt others who don't.
Mrs A and I have been discussing this subject for a very (extensive) long time and it's not something we're not completely aware of. Yes the option is there for members, for now at least.
Does it make it right that people can do this and hide yet snoop on others? No. But we also have to offer a level of privacy too.
That said I'm all for having the options to set privacy for photos only

This is it, hopefully it will make people aware and think of things. Changing their attitudes most definitely.

I do tend to agree on the whole. However as I said, they could also have legitimate reasons too.

Fact is, on a manned and well staffed and well run site like ours, is this strictly a necessary option?
I think photos is more than sufficient.

Yeah I get the privacy bit.

As it stands I would have to block that person in total (difficult as I can't even see their name) but I see no need to do that, yet, but it would be good to be able to restrict individual members (still see posts on the forums) rather than only people I don't follow or all singles for instance, from my profile without blocking completely.

Unfortunately that would be impossible to do. The easiest and best (simplistic) way to handle this is - if member A has a hidden account and views your account constantly and continuously but they refuse to amend their account, then blocking is the answer. It's really as simple as that. (y)

before I ask this I just want to make sure everyone understands why I'm asking this(y)

It's not a dig in any way and it's not to start any heated discussions :) I'm just curious, and would be nice to be able to interact will all on site.

Now I know this has been asked before but I'm hoping the newbies will chip in one this!

Why do people restrict the viewing of their profile? I do understand on other sites it's a must due to being hounded by not wanted people but I think I can safely speak for all when I say this is a one of a kind site that isn't like any other :)

Or is it that some people don't realise they have selected this setting? (n)

What are your thoughts..........?
One thing for ourselves for example, we allow people to view our account but only allow people who we follow to; view our photos plus send us PM's.. That way we are in control over who sees what and who can contact us. (y)

Do many still restrict their accounts?

Hmm well that is a shame. Nevertheless, education is key to helping members understand that there's not necessarily a need to do it on here. (as of yet anyway lol) x
Makes it so difficult to interact, especially when they only respond to a select few. There is a word that springs to mind lately.
