Let's start by me saying I'm an Atheist. I don't have a belief in a God of any kind. I can find no evidence to support the existence of a "supreme being" and I refuse to live my life in fear of committing some kind of sin and "burning in hell". I live my life how the fuck I want, I don't hurt people, I'm a nice guy, I try to help those in need, etc. And because I choose to be this way. NOT because of the Bible or some outdated teachings.

Well vex, the religious chat ommm..
Well ok I'm catholic and have very strong faith but I do respect others and we are all different.. Simple.
I never force my faith on anyone and through choice my children follow the catholic faith, now Mr A has different views and he supports my faith and sometimes pays interest.
I do feel at piece knowing that I will go on an exciting journey after my days here, which I embrace xxx

Ooh okay before the religious discussion kick off, can we please remember - we all have choices and beliefs.
Discuss by all means but please don't mock or provoke anyone because they have different beliefs.
Thank you (y)

I guess that should be believing rather than knowing, as nobody knows 100% sure what really happens after we depart from here.

My faith has diluted, I was brought up a catholic but do not really practice these days. it is a long time since my last confession and I feel sorry for the poor sole that hears my last, should I suddenly feel the urge.

I am not a non believer, so not sure what that makes me.

Sarah x x x
Yes agreed I believe and good catholic girls are the ones to watch hehe xx

I was brought up as Anglican. Not sure if you can 'lapse' as an Anglican - but I have... I would regard myself as Agnostic, I think, nowadays. But would still tick 'C of E' on a form.... o_O
My general beliefs are still broadly Christian, though, in as much as trying to help others, if and when I can....

I was brought up in the morman church, The church of latter day saints until the age of 12....yep thats right, you heared it correctly, what was my mother thinking lol & your asking yourself how the hell i ended up on a swinging site haha as they believe in no sex before marriage, no drinking coffee or tea, no drinking (the hard stuff) well i tell you what if id stayed until adult hood, i would have been in their terms ex communicated (expelled)!! haha i most def would have let the team down lmao :ROFLMAO:.....anyway my parents finally left the church after many years of being brainwashed & almost being head fked & we became christians lol i know from one to the other ha anyway I dont practice the christian faith & follow the bible (far from it) lol but i do still believe in god & have faith we will go somewhere when we pass over!! There have also been times in my life where i believe god has been watching over me & guiding me in the right direction (you may say its just a considence). We all make mistakes, im still making them now, but i know as long as i continue to be positive, god will watch over me & my family every day until my time is up :)(y) even if i do go through hard times, these times make me stronger & wiser!! Xx

Absolutely, we do all we can for our friends and people we know. Genuinely we do. I think it's healthy in life to help others if you can. It makes life more fulfilling and you feel a sense of achievement.. :) xx

@RedHotFox Indeed and what a story & background. Pretty epic but you're a strong lady and generous to the core. Like us, you'd do anything to help others.
I think it's all about how we were brought up, and I think it's fair to say that most of us had religion whilst growing up.
However now, the generation is completely different and personally I think it shows in society! (y)
;) xx

I always believed in God...
I wouldn't say I don't, but I have had many a heated debate, at work mainly on a night shift..
My reason?
I've seen so much suffering so many deaths.. Young, sometimes painful, gut wrenching deaths.. So??
I often question, this god whom is so wonderful.. Why? Perhaps yes they die young, only the good die young so they say Hmmm... But to let them die suffering and in immense pain?? Aye I definately doubt my beliefs.

I agree... suffering that can't be explained.
But I questioned this once. I questioned to Jehovah Witnesses who used to call regularly, and I used to ask them in and invited them in openly, for theories, philosophical discussions and in depth conversations about God, existence and meaning.

I perhaps should not do this. But maybe I should, esp @meet_the_fockers & my wife @Pearls ;
This became regular and I became friendly with the gents, who would share a coffee with me, in my home whether they were cold wet or soaked from shit weather, or sweating pints.. We would sit and theorise...
The answer no matter what questions and finger pointing I did, always came back the same and we all agreed on the same.

The answer was... man & mankind.
Why is there endless suffering in the world? = Man & mankind. Corruption, greed and envy.
Why do children die unnecessarily when we live in such a modernised world? = Man & mankind. Corruption, greed and envy.
Why does cancer exist and aids/hiv exist that kills and consumes all? = Man & mankind. Corruption, greed and envy.
Why are so many people suffering, starving and dying of thirst when we are so advanced and have technology that connects us to another person the other SIDE of the world in REAL TIME yet children die from lack of clean fucking water! = Man & mankind. Corruption, greed and envy.

The answers are always the same. We are the toxins and the antidote.
The lust and the greed and the hate that man often produces, usually in the name of God. Or money, which IS God for some people...
mankind is the death of mankind, and we are our own worst enemy.

Luckily for you and I, there ARE people like Meet The Fockers out there, Like @Wet_Cotton and like Pearls, who care, give and give relentlessly.

God?
If there was one... He/She/it is manifested in people like you - who give and sacrifice without hesitation, question, want or desires....

Hope this makes sense. :) xx

Pretty deep, I can see where your coming from, my beliefs have been tested to the metal!
As they have also been, when faced with, a family of jehovanous witnesses..And a very sick child.. Spelling eek..But we all have different views and opinions.. It's what makes people tick.. I guess.

I can go a lot deeper, but yes, it's what we have and how we perceive things in life and what impressions we have based upon religion/science etc ..
Blood transfusions et al & Jehova's? Not good I am afraid. Such is life.
Mankind again.. x

Ive been brought up catholic and still practice today, sexuality has been a huge issue with the faith as gay has never been recognised.
I have always been a strong believer and my faith has helped me through many difficult times and hope it will continue to do so xx

i was brought up Catholic i remember as a kid being asked by a doctor if i was a Roman Catholic i said no British Catholic. i always try to distinguish between religion which tend to be collections of men telling you what you can and can't do and God the existence of whom i am agnostic about and live my live trying to do the good thing, might not be the right thing but at least my intentions where good and we all know where that gets you :)

Hmmm....I didn't get any update e-mails for this thread! :( I was raised Roman Catholic as well but honestly, I never had a true belief in any of it. I was baptized, confirmed, the whole deal. But just to appease my parents. I was never given a choice what I wanted to believe.

I got into science, mainly quantum physics, in my teens and have been a hardcore follower of that ever since.

I am very satisfied in my beliefs. I don't feel like I am "missing" something as some would say that religion fills that "gap". My g/f fills in any gaps I've ever had.....
