Ok, so UBI was discredited but has come back into favour recently as some rich folks think there won't be the work to go around in 20-40 years 'cos robots will do everything.
Without a wholesale, revolutionary reorganisation of the way the country is run it's currently unfeasible, other than as a possible small-scale replacement for out of work benefits, where trials have anecdotally shown it to work well. But that's not the point of UBI.
If robots do take the majority of human work, there'll be no-one left to buy anything - and that's why Mark Zuckerberg et al.
Meaningful, useful, decently paid work is what is needed.
