What's your ideal holiday like?

I haven't had many holidays, but my favourite has been Barcelona. It's a historical city with lots to see and do if the mood strikes, with a beautiful beach and the weather is usually pretty glorious ??
Sounds wonderful. The weather there and the beaches are usually pretty good aren’t they?
For me I think it’s Dominican Republic. Whilst the country is sadly ridden with poverty, the tourist side of it is stunning. White Sandy beaches, palm trees, crystal blue/green sea.
Amazing little islands dotted around and the food is outstanding.
We even had the luxury for whale watching.
I would go there again. But the travelling time is dreadful. Majorca is quite nice too actually.

If we ever did get around to getting an SS yacht - we’d be touring the Med. x

That sounds like bliss!

I've always wondered about Majorca - worth a trip? I'd love to do Athens and Crete at some point too. I've wanted to do a Spanish Pilgrimage - from the North Coast in Bilbao to the West, near Portugal. I like backpacking trips too

As his nibs said above the Dominican was amazing, we watched whales migrating putting on a great show for us, the coffee plantation and island hopping off the tourist path, loads to experience.
For me there has to be culture, nothing too touristy where you get cafes selling a full English. ?
So many to list but Rome, medjugorje, Greece would be at the top.

Majorca was beautiful. We had a five star hotel out there, built into a cliff which went straight into the Mediterranean Sea.
The people are friendly, the outer scenery is beautiful.
Yes you still get the Only Fools pubs and Irish bars etc but certain places aren’t too bad.
The nightclubs were fun too.
I’m totally drawn to Rome and Italy also. That’s on my top list.

I think you’d have an amazing time doing a Spanish pilgrimage. There’s so much culture to absorb and enjoy. I’d also love to visit Portugal too. If we did similar it would be a wine and food journey. ? x

There are so many places to visit in Luthuania.People always think it's shady visiting places like that, but it is so beautiful. We went on a hot air balloon over Trakai and saw the castles and ancient buildings. It was an unforgettable experience x

Thailand has been my best holidays to date. I have never been so relaxed, welcomed and at home than Thailand. The people are so friendly, including all the people on holiday. Even much so I have made friends from Norway, America, Holland and expats from UK.

I will move there to live eventually.

I think it will be a while before we venture abroad again. We used to go to my Mum's in Spain 3 or 4 times a year and really loved it but since they moved back to the UK we haven't really bothered. I think the ultimate for us would be somewhere we could go by boat. I've got so I hate flying now, anything further than a couple of hours and i get really bored.

Think our best holidays seem quite boring compared to all these exotic places everyone has been to.. We love the scenery in Wales.. Even though we live here we never get tired of looking at it.. We have had some great holidays in Porthmadog.. Some of the mountain views and landscapes is stunning.. We have been abroad.. I Mr have been a few times more than Mrs h.. The first time was to ibiza.. The two lads I was with said it was a great holiday but unfortunately I had to take their word for it.. ??????????.. I have been a few times since then.. Maybe I'm just getting older but I like to be somewhere closer so if something happens with the family I can jump in the car and drive home.. I've always wanted to go on a train journey across Canada and through the rockies.. I think that would be an amazing trip.. W.. ??

I love Santa Ponsa in Majorca, and can’t wait to go back. We went to Malta for my 50, I was born there but had never visited, not sure what I was expecting but I was a little disappointed, the hotel & food was awful but the scenery & history was amazing. I will go back but to a different part.
Love Florida and all the Disney/Universal stuff, but I really love doing caravan/chalet holidays in the UK-Hemsby is my favourite place, I really want to explore Wales, Scotland & Ireland so will be doing more of that when allowed.

Good point actually, there are parts of the Uk we’ve never been too and would love to see, one on my list is Cornwall as we’ve never been, we are luck to have some amazing scenery here especially the Kent country side which we’ve been many times. We are also lucky to live on the south coast of Wales and have seen most places here right up to north Wales, You can’t beat a good weekend in porthcawl ?
