Bit off a hot topic just now,

I mentioned it in another thread but feel it deserves one of its own.
how do we feel on Britain's and Europe's handling of the immigration?

personally my heart sinks every time I watch the news and learn of how little we are doing to help. If someone is in that much fear of there life that they are willing to take themselves and there family's though such a dangerous journey while leaving there friends extended family and homes behind are they not deserving of our help?

thoughts?.x

Ai Max hot topic indeed.
Ok.. yes I do feel sorry for those struggling, not that sorry that they should be let into our country.
They come here in droves, they suck our economy and NHS resources dry.
Our schools are packed to the rafters, hence no room for our children.
More houses are being built to accomodate, on once lush green land.
This country if fit to burst, it no longer has anything, to offer the future generations.
We are lucky we have a free health service i think.. dont quote me we are the only country to offer this. Well i say free .. ultimately we pay for it through our taxes...
Heartless perhaps, but my main concern is for my own..
My young son and the future this country can offer him.

As you say they make the decision to leave their homes friends and families behind but what about our own people should we not spend more time looking to help our own first the amount of homeless people are on the increase daily , jobs are few and far between with outsiders shall we say applying for and getting them at a lower rate of pay , I live in a fishing village and its becoming more and more frequent to see thia , polish and indian but to name a few working here for that lower wage where we rely on the holiday periods and yes being in the hotel trade ive seen this first hand .
The NHS suffer ,the schools suffer, less jobs for our own mean more people claiming benefits and sorry to say its hard enough trying to get a house without outsiders coming here getting everything handed to them on a plate then complaining its wrong to have to adere to said countries rules of which they have chosen to migrate to

I hear you, I really do but we are one of the wealthiest country's in the world and we flaunt this every day with our cars, mobile phones, games consoles, big screen t.v's the list goes on...
when would people not seek refuge with us?
as for the n.h.s, i feel the demise of our national health service lies firmly with the present and passed governments. seeing the money to be made by unscrupulous pharmaceutical company's they want a slice of the pie but to do this they will have to stop making health care free at the point of delivery so they can then slip in there surcharge between us and the company supplying the product.
the lush green land is still plentiful if the owners of mass estates would release land rights.
our country is nothing like full, this is just mass hysteria fulled by headline selling news papers.
there is not much of a housing crises in the u.k. how many people do you really know how don't have a roof over there head and food in there belly?
we are incredibly privileged and well off and need to share.x

The problem with the immigration debate is that it is such an emotive issue, that mis-information, anecdotal evidence and downright lies - on all sides of the debate - can easily cloud the issue. A good, independent website, to counteract this, can be found here; Full Fact - Immigration

Personally, I believe immigration to be a good thing - our country is built on it, we are a mongrel nation. Whenever the question is raised, I always think of this piece of genius;
The British (serves 60 million)
Take some Picts, Celts and Silures
And let them settle,
Then overrun them with Roman conquerors.
Remove the Romans after approximately 400 years
Add lots of Norman French to some
Angles, Saxons, Jutes and Vikings, then stir vigorously.

Mix some hot Chileans, cool Jamaicans, Dominicans,
Trinidadians and Bajans with some Ethiopians, Chinese,
Vietnamese and Sudanese.
Then take a blend of Somalians, Sri Lankans, Nigerians
And Pakistanis,
Combine with some Guyanese
And turn up the heat.
Sprinkle some fresh Indians, Malaysians, Bosnians,
Iraqis and Bangladeshis together with some
Afghans, Spanish, Turkish, Kurdish, Japanese
And Palestinians
Then add to the melting pot.
Leave the ingredients to simmer.
As they mix and blend allow their languages to flourish
Binding them together with English.
Allow time to be cool.
Add some unity, understanding, and respect for the future,
Serve with justice
And enjoy.
Note: All the ingredients are equally important. Treating one ingredient better than another will leave a bitter unpleasant taste.
Warning: An unequal spread of justice will damage the people and cause pain. Give justice and equality to all.

Snap! Haha.... but now I've started...

I'm not anti immigration, but can we please put our servicemen first for a change!
all the time in the world for our servicemen, but right now they are not starving to death and being drowned in there thousands.
most servicemen i have spoke to on the subject, the people who have seen it first hand tend to agree with me.x

I really, really want to say something here... Especially about this;

But given the nature of the site, our account and more. I have to abstain. Just thought I would add this.
Very tricky when you want to say something and elaborate, but know you simply cannot.

he should be housed by the government and treated with a little respect!
I don't think you'll get much argument over that (y)
However, I'm very sceptical when this - as well as other issues, such as housing, education and the NHS - is linked to immigration. It smacks to me of letting governments off the hook on these issues. As @Max-the-3rd said, there is an awful lot of money in this country and it certainly isn't all being sucked up by immigration.

In my own honest opinion Ide say no to everything if you haven't worked here for at least 10 years unless you can pay for it in full

I strongly believe that if you want something then you should pay for it.... not expect a hand out.

If you want to come into what was once called 'Great Britain' then bring your money with you.
and what made Britain great? perhaps Immigration? a melting pot of cultures with new ideas all combined to make a forward thinking nation.

No as I wouldn't let myself get to that point where I have to take advantage of another countrys stupidity in giving out free benefits to immigrants

don't think many of then had much of a choice as to be put in the situation, war tends to not give a flying fuck about individuals. as for the other country stupidity, I am pretty sure most of there problems can be traced back to western nations and Russia.
