Now you know it's not like me to interefere in your website design but.......I think it's not a good idea to have member avatars on a pre-login screen without asking them first boss.
Some people might have rather more revealing avatars that they might not want to be recognisable to the public on pre-login.
I don't want to be a nay-sayer but some folk might not like it. For example our pic
would be easy to recognise for our porn curious 17 year old boy as it is on our coffee table.

I am not very good at coming up with ideas but having a link to members on the front page will attract more people... However newbies would be redirected to a joining page when they clicked on one of the beautiful mugshots whereas members would have access...

Good morning ladies, apologies in the time taken to respond.
So when we rolled out PV across the site in June, we initially set it that after 7 days and no PV, then the accounts get locked.
This was for me, too long. Evidently in posts on the thread, others also agreed too, so it was reduced and then further whittled down to 2 days. Within those 2 days (full 48 hours) members have access to a fair bit of the site but not full access.
This is to provide exactly what was mentioned earlier in this thread;
If we further restrict what newbies, who are not PV'd, can do then we really do limit the all 'round experience and functionality. If you recall during the debates about PV, we wanted to make sure people get a taste for things before making the decision to PV and then keep the account from unlocking.
In one hand I agree that it can possibly be a minor inconvenience if you receive a PM from an account which is not PV'd, however in order to allow newbies a chance to find their feet here, and see what it's about then yes it's something that has to be allowed. If the PM is not to your liking, simply leave the message ticking the option 'Ignore further replies'.
As mentioned by @meandlis though previously;
Of course, if you have any problems with another member, new or otherwise, you can report it and appropriate action will be taken
However, that said, we have some changes coming which will also play a significant part in this but that's something I can't delve into further at this moment in time.

If anyone who's not pv'd drops me a PM, i always point them in the direction of getting their media and pv sorted. Some new members just need repointing in the right direction. I know i did back in June when my account was restricted for simply 'not having a clue what i was doing' x

It's not a major inconvenience.. But I come here to escape other places such as twatter...
How difficult is it to give members the option in privacy to allow all members or just pv ones?
I let my guard down here.... A little... And worry that window shopping newbies can trawl my page... Then vanish..
A pv has a little more commitment to the site.. I whole heartedly agree that we need to attract newbies but as for current member protection our options in privacy are only let people who we follow... Or let the whole world.. Or choose individuals..
More and more people are showing face pics... And about time.. It shows trust.. I show mine from time to time.. But screenshots etc make me wary... I don't need another porn page opening.. Thanks for getting those last ones shut down too.. Xxxxxxxx... But I certainly wouldn't say no to another teir in privacy
I am not asking that we get the stupid options that the other sites offer.. Block couples, dogs, cats and that rubbish...
But I worry about newbies... As I have banged on about since the day I joined...

I do see your point and having that 48hr freedom so to speak does give people plenty of chance to find members and see what they want but I do think we also need a balance, I think being allowed to see profiles is fine but media and messaging until PVed should be looked at. x

I fully get that, I would say no one really needs to message straight away and following three steps to be able to do that isn't asking that much. Lets see what @Admin thinks x
Asking people to PV before they get an idea of what the site is about is likely to put some off, so the idea of giving them limited access is great as it gives them time to look around and make an informed judgement. As @Pearls says it's not if we give them limited access it's about getting the balance right
