I'd like to take this chance to mention that I have spoken to the lady this evening who was on Radio 2's Jeremy Vine Show this afternoon regarding Catfishing.
She has been affected deeply by Catfishing and has granted us permission to share her story and petition link where she's asking for support to try and make it law to make catfishing a crime.
If you can take a minute to please read this, sign it and show support, it would be greatly received and appreciated.
Many thanks

I have to say, what an epic video, I think we need something like that in this country :D
There seems to be a few kinds of catfishing and something that I hadn't heard of before working on line (for my sins)
I'm trying to work out why people need such attention and also what kicks they get by being something they clearly are not..

I understand that people need social media for personal gratification, the likes and comments are all they have to feel confident but how do they get that feeling if the photo's they display are not them? (has to be phychological) but obviously they must know it won't go anywhere.

Then you got the person who just wants attention by dragging innocent victims into conversations, making up pretend scenarios and lies, I would say again this has to be for attention.

You then get the guys and girls that think sending innocent messages to others whilst they are in a relationship but see it as harmless as the other half doesn't know, they have no intention of breaking up with said partner but still want that something extra even if it's not sexual they just want to prove they can still pull, hurting not only the innocent people they message but what about the partner they have, there is only one reason why someone feels the need to message someone else and again it's personal gain, attention and the feeling of "hey I still have it"

We have seen so many fake account's working in this industry and the fools that fall for them, just stop and have a good look, think to yourself would a woman speak like that? If it's too good to be true then it probably is ;)

In this scene you have to trust your partner, there is no room for secrecy, be open, talk and always do things together which is so important, even if you think it's harmless it's not. :)

Be safe on social media, remember you haven't got any security there like you have on a site like this.

Have to agree with her up there ^^^^ :) It's attention seeking. Sad really and it does make you wonder why the need to seek the attention in the first place. It's those innocent people that fall for them that concern me, some fakes are obvious but some not quite so blatent and I can see why some people fall for the scams.

It's probably because they haven't thought it through and it's quite common on both SG and couples profiles

You also get the face pic hunters and general pic collectors..if you notice not everyone puts face pics up..we haven't got any on our media page..we have learned now to only send them to people who are pv,d as in the past we have new members messaging us asking for face pics..W.. :tiphat:
Honestly I can t get my head around why people get off doing things like that??

Honestly that's probably in part them not paying attention and checking what they've clicked on when filling in their profile it very common, and often stays because people don't to look at those pages again after sign up, some of us even missed a blinking "A" out of their screen name.
