I bought a woodstove about 15 years ago when the heating prices doubled.I’m thinking of building some kind of fire thingy to put in the kitchen out of a metal drum
I’d love one but there’s no room here, I’m thinking of sticking the bbq in the kitchen ?I bought a woodstove about 15 years ago when the heating prices doubled.
Price of wood has gone up too, but it is still cheaper
I dont know if they are available in your area or if they are known by a different name, but pellet stoves can fit almost anywhere. The Chimney is more like a vent on a gas appliance. They burn small wood Pellets made out of pressed sawdust.I’d love one but there’s no room here, I’m thinking of sticking the bbq in the kitchen ?
I don’t have a chimney though! Unless a whack a hole in the wall with my hammer and chisel ?I dont know if they are available in your area or if they are known by a different name, but pellet stoves can fit almost anywhere. I have a full size stove.
I can almost fit a body in it.
In case I ever need to .
Pellet stoves dont yse a conventional Chimney. If you have a gas powered stove or water heater or clothes dryer it should have a snall vent through a wall.I don’t have a chimney though! Unless a whack a hole in the wall with my hammer and chisel ?

Pellet stoves are more like that vent.
My house is wood framed so I just sawed a hole though the roof for the Chimney

WTAF? Are you running a warehouse sized "plant nursery" (if you know, you know!)Just had our estimates, we’re going up to £2.5k PA. ???
Have you had your estimates yet?
That’s good. Well, manageable. Aye ours is through the roof. Ridiculous.WTAF? Are you running a warehouse sized "plant nursery" (if you know, you know!)
I think our total for gas and leccy...combined, is going up to about 1700 quid a year total.
We had to learn many years ago to be careful with gas and leccy, its paying off now. We dont have the gas on all the time, even during the winter, it is programmed to come on 3 times a day, for a couple of hours each time. Our biggest expense is leccy, but even then we try to be sensible, making sure we put full loads in the washer etc. That’s good. Well, manageable. Aye ours is through the roof. Ridiculous.
Barely use anything here - contrary to the estimates, but that’s a good practice. We had to learn many years ago to be careful with gas and leccy, its paying off now.
