We read a lot about folks saying someone is too far away to meet up so just wondered how far folks think is too far to travel. We personally have traveled to John O Groats for a meet and as far south as Devon and Dorset in the past but then we combine our love of bikes and meeting people together and make it a nice weekend away on the bikes of it with a social tagged on in the evening and then who knows what might happen. However this year has been different as due to personal reasons we are having to limit ourselves to about an hours travel and return home the same night. So come on how far would you go for a meet.

I travelled from Anglesey to Chelmsford to meet up. 7 hours each way. Left Saturday, came back Sunday. So it annoys me when I get told that being only 2 hours away is too far so there's no point.

Not really I mean if it's someone I've met before and I know we click I wouldn't mind traveling the distance but if it's someone new I wouldn't travel that far unless they were spectacular :p

I was wondering why there was a disagree. Typo maybe? The agree and disagree buttons are quite close. I thought your point was very valid.

Absolutely categorically under any circumstances. Would. I meet someone because of distance

I have travelled across the water to meet Someone

In Same breath I've had offers from folk who are 30 mins away n have politely declined

For me meeting Someone there has to be chemistry connection n commonalities

We've had 4somes with couples in Lanzarote, Normandy and the South of France which we arranged from home, but we didn't go to the places especially for those meets, we happened to be going there on holiday. The longest we've travelled just for a meet was a 3 hour drive, we were invited to stay overnight. That couple are now good friends and we alternate between going to their place and them coming to ours.

I disagreed becauseIt's not about judging folk by the same standard ... for me each friendship , relationship , whatever label we choose to use is entirely different n unique and each circumstance is differenr

I'll be .. honest and say I'm always excited by propect of meeting people , however there have some that I have been so much more excited to meet ....
Again it goes back to interaction. Prior to the meeting

On a more serious note, the distance isn't an issue for us, providing we know it's not going to be a wasted journey. Our only limitation is my shifts as it means I have very few weekends off, which is when most people prefer to meet.

Thats exactly why we used to make a weekend of it and go on the bikes so that the meet was only absmall part of it and not the main event so to speak.

Hmmm distance. Well away from this I was also on dating sites looking for miss right. No not miss "fancy one" I do mean miss right. I did however have a distance limit because of the fact that conducting a relationship over a distance puts too much strain on things (been there done it, we failed). However for the right girl... Linda was over that limit and it was a quirk of the app that we got in touch so distance isn't a wall more an extra hurdle.
Yes we'd travel in fact we are hoping this may happen soon, but I think just like dating you do it when you're sure there's a good chance you'll hit it off. Anyway the sensible thing is to plan ahead. If the meet soon goes wrong you plan what to do now you're in the area, after all you may like her/him/them but they may not feel the same. Life doesn't conveniently plonk all the best folk on your doorstep for you.

When I was in better health and still actually meeting I'd generally look to meet others within approximately an hours drive from home, it wasn't a hard n fast rule and was quite surprising how far or not as sometimes happend an hours travel would take me. There's been one or two exeptions over the years, socials mainly where theres been accomodation arranged either a hotel, crash on some ones floor or pitch a tent. One major exception was a trip out to Bulgaria, being on dialysis ment this was a bit of a logistical nightmare, arranging to have treatment there but it happened and had a great two weeks, enjoyed it that much I did it again ;)
