I always wait to maybe get to know them better and will always ask first. I just feel it's polite. Not saying it's wrong otherwise. I did get followed recently without any interaction before and none since. I don't follow them as they won't interact so I see no reason to.

Quality over quantity for sure, as you know we only follow a select few, people we class as friends and have met really or would like to meet xx

I must add, we had one guy who constantly nagged for a follow off us, would even post publicly to see if he would get a reaction, he was like a dog with a bone and only wanted the follow to access our media, we have a few! He is no longer with us and it would never have happened.

We only follow 1 person since we came back but seem to have gained some follower's who have never even spoken 1 word to us. Thinking we should delete all follows and start again.

People can follow you you don't really get a choice - lots just click button , few ask
You cannot unfollow them who clicked without asking from Your end
You can unfollow those who you follow
unless there's been a changed during my awol period

Can I ask about the unfollowing others that just follow - why can we not unfollow - is it in interest of community spirit ?

If someone wants to follow you, they can.. there's nothing you can do to unfollow. However, you yourselves are in full control over what people see or don't see.
You can set every single option to people you choose to follow only, including media for example, so that means that the people who decide to follow you - won't really see anything anyway aside from posts etc. Does that make sense? x
He can, he can unfollow everyone and then only follow who they decide they wish to.

Can I just bump this again and mention that, it's good site etiquette and really - basic manners, to ask someone before following them rather than outright following them just because you feel like it.
Even more so, if the person(s) politely request that you please unfollow, you should accept their decision and kindly unfollow.

Must admit have never really got into this following lark. We have a few we follow but I am sure we would follow more if we could be arsed lol

Wouldn't we live in a boring place if we followed every rule, be a rebel now and again and follow away hun, I don't tend to follow the rules and etiquette and follow without asking but we are who we are, if you think you would like to follow then please do so, it can't do much damage can it
