People are already losing it, and shit's going to get a LOT worse. In the last 24 hours, according to govt stats, 1.4k new cases, comparing this to new cases for Italy's numbers show their numbers to be around 1st March, so we're like 3 weeks behind them... just look at their new-cases graph from there on...

Mother Russia helped Italy today... fair play to them. So as a result, a local Italian mayor removed the EU flag and swapped it with a Russian one.
Two videos on this so..

Ok so I’ve just watched the new surprising it’s full of the virus .... but a question was asked is it ok to have a tradesman in your house doing work ? The answer yes as long as your 2m apart ...
then in the another bit they said boyfriend/girlfriend live in separate houses is it ok to meet ;) .... answer no !! Or only if one or other goes and lives in one household ??
now I find this slightly confusing it’s not ok to meet or have a friend round but it’s ok to have a tradesman in?‍♂️?‍♂️

Have you? Has anyone?
The tax office will have records of previously submitted accounts from most ,not all I know but that’s another matter so considering they are guaranteeing 80% earnings to the employed it shouldn’t be so difficult to work out a solution payed on a pro rata basis .... but then I’m not a politician or accountant...

I'm self-employed. Revenue for March is somewhere between 17-22% of what it should be. I have no idea what to do about money. zip. I've read about the govt paying 80% of earnings calculated from last 3 years of self-employed earnings. Fantastic if you've been self-employed for 3 years...

People who are complaining about 80% of their salary should count themselves lucky.

For the construction industry we have a scheme which I believe is unique to the industry I may be wrong called CIS ..... which deductions are made at 20 or 30 % depends on your status, this money is all paid up front and after tax deduction a refund of over payment is issued .... coming to the end of the financial year it would be helpful to a large number if refunds were made quickly, it would ease the situation for many construction workers ....

The one who's getting paid for being there and then paying tax with that money... unless the 'friend' is paid for being there too!
Yeah I think my point was more that they both may pay taxes, just because one is also there doesn’t mean they’re not S.E either and haven’t paid taxes. So comparisons like that have to be more solid if you know what I mean?

they have to act on this but it’s going to take a little bit longer for them to roll it all out I should imagine. It will happen.

I’ve got some info for you @MP386

Don’t you come under the rules for small businesses?

As I work for contractors as a sub contractor all invoices are deducted on CIS ....if I do work for private clients then it’s paid in full and the account sorts out what’s paid ...
the whole issue of distance and working outside ,yes some work is out side but a lot isn’t and many jobs you just can’t keep 2m apart ... but you could say that for office workers why have they all shut down if it’s only a 2m gap requirement...

I think that’s because you can work from home when working in an office.
Whereas like you can’t build a wall in your front room. Well, you can but not really practical which is why they’re sending staff home.
I don’t agree with it but maybe they see this as essential work and, to a degree, they’d be right. Construction work is essential isn’t it?
So the advice is - if you cannot work from home, go out to work.
But I don’t quite agree tbh. It’s still risking yourself and others.
It’s all a tad contradictory and we need clear, concise information. Especially yourself.

TBH it’s not making much difference as my work hasn’t been good all year , seems a lot of builders merchants are closing so work will grind to a natural halt when materials can’t be bought .... there are lots of stuff that needs addressing, food stores with opening hours for the elderly and NHS workers , my Dad went along early this morning , but turned around the queue was out the car park and the store were letting anyone in not stopping those who shouldn’t have been there and who were also coming out with trolleys piled high ... so that’s not working either ...

We’re approaching, I think anyway without being hyper, a form of social breakdown.
