Singles (swingles) & Swinging.....

I think the definition of swinging has moved on over recent years. With the advent of the internet and the rise of swinging sites, it has become a different beast to what it was previously with contact mags etc. It now encompasses many different people with many different wants and many different things to offer; singles, couples, fetsters and kinksters, voyeurs, group sex aficionados, size queens, snow bunnies, coasting lifestylers (cheers @Admin ), fuckbuddies, FWBs, blancmange-heads..... OK, I made that last one up - but you know what I mean.
The standard dictionary definition is probably meaningless, in this case, as it takes a while for the bods at the OED to catch up on 'underground' language. I find urbandictionary.com more useful in these circumstances;
Swingers can be couples (married or not) or singles.
They have a sexually free spirit. Couples tend to be in love with each other, and only "share" each other sexually with others. Sometimes this means "swapping wives" sometimes it means "group sex".
Single swingers generally despise the dating process and would rather meet at swinger gatherings where it is acceptable and in some cases expected that sex can/will occur on the spot with whomever they meet and feel attracted to.
Not a perfect definition, but a lot closer than the official dictionaries.

For me/us swinging is about swapping.
We would be lost without singles, without them, we couldn't 'swing' so they obviously play a big part in the swinging world.. they enter group senarios, and ultimately swap, with those involved. So in that situation, they are a swinger.

If a single.. met a single. For dinner a quick shag whatever.. there is no..
swapping.. hence no swinging..
Ive not read the other threads re this.. ive just jumped in with my size 9's and thoughts..
Just my way of dumbing it down there are many many senario's.
Doesnt really matter what you call yourself, at the end of the day..

Going on the back of this topic started by @Kwaka_Rider Guilty And Secret Crushes rather than derail it further - we feel it's worthy of its own discussion..
As we said in that thread;



Okay we know that the lifestyle itself has so many fun opportunities for so many people.
There's a hell of a lot of things that couldn't be achieved without couples and single ladies/gents within the scene too..

For instance, you may be looking for a gent to join in for mfm or mmf, or even cuckholding.
You could be looking for a lady to join in for mff or mfm...

But what about singles meeting other singles? A gent meeting with a lady...
Is this swinging? Isn't it simply dating and one night stands?
Or does that also class as swinging?

We of course have our own thoughts about it, and swinging is ever-evolving isn't it? Times are changing..What do you think?

The reason we thought about this was, a discussion took place earlier while we were doing some things and a question was asked by a friend - whether she'd be simply dating and one night stands, or would she be classed as a swinger?
And of course the points raised in the thread mentioned.

Swinging has evolve evolved beyond recognition.. Everything is umbrellad under the title title these days.. One night stands that don't evolve is swinging for singles. No strings hassle..

To me , The comments made by experienced swingers in the traditional sense of the word are trying to "box" people and actions and ones who are swingles are trying to break the mould.

Maybe the question you folks are answering is what is deemed acceptable individually for each one of you than saying one is swinging and other not.

If someone is meeting someone one on one and that happens via a swinging site...So what? Does getting off always have to happen as per the book? Sex is sex...Groups or doubles.

Swinging is just about having multiple partners (promiscuity in the right way) to me, than being with one. Works for some, for others it doesn't. So I don't see the point trying to define what swinging means to each one of you.

Let's call it for what it is..We are discussing what we are comfortable with and what isn't.

We were both fairly promiscuous (that's an old judgmental word you don't hear much now!) when young but didn't consider it swinging. Even if you had a couple of different partners a week as long as it was just one-on-one, it was just ordinary dating or whatever. Now and again there were more than two involved and it would be swinging by today's definition although we didn't call it swinging then, can't really think it was called anything except perhaps a 3some, 4some or partying.

Even when you are a single and use sites like this to meet other singles for casual sex, then we wouldn't really call that swinging either, just normal sex.
